Today’s Message:Helping Ourselves Grow
928: Whether we realize it or not the Universe provides support for your purpose as well as everything that is needed to make things happen. Today we are being guided to reflect on our path as the angels ask this important question, ” Are you doing what you love?” Too often we find ourselves stuck in relationships, jobs and activities that we have outgrown or we don’t enjoy. By letting these things go we are inviting the energy needed to create something better. By creating something better we are embracing the opportunities to do what we love. The key is in taking responsibility and then adding your energy to the equation (do your part). Don’t sit back and just wait for things to happen. By taking the necessary steps you will be ready to grab the opportunities when they appear. If you miss one by hesitating it will come back around but it may take a while to reappear. Strengthen your resolve to make forward progress a priority. Ask for what you need to make this happen and embrace your power as a creator to ensure you are doing your part.

Archangel Jophiel the angel of Illumination and wisdom, fills us with beautiful, loving thoughts and uplifting energy which helps us to create a fresh approach to life. 926: Today the angels are reminding us of the importance of faith based gratitude. Remember that gratitude keeps us grounded by keeping things in perspective. Autumn is the time of year when gratitude takes the lead and sets the tone for the new cycle. Take time today to ground and center and check your overall balance. Do things feel good or are you wobbly and tipping the scales and letting fear or worry take over? If you feel off center acknowledge your concerns and turn them over to the angels to transmute into something better. Remind yourself that you are worthy of great things and reflect on the good things that have happened recently. Even if it’s just one thing remember that it’s a starting point. So firm up your resolve and move forward. Do not backpedal or allow yourself to become stagnate. Success happens with forward movement and by helping ourselves we receive the assistance that we need.

Faith is part of gratitude, and the stronger our faith the more we manifest and the more we have to be grateful for. This is a good time to perform a self check and think about the gifts and miracles that have blessed your life so far this year. By looking back we can see how far we have come from spring and the thought seeds that we planted at that time. Make sure to nurture the “new growth” and to harvest what’s ready now. Embrace your blessings with a grateful heart and affirm that you have faith that they will continue to be abundant in your life.

Heathens, Pagans, and Witches; we’ll make magic out of just about anything. Especially when it comes to the natural world. I’ve read blog posts on sun magic, moon magic, bone magic. I own an entire book on Water Witchcraft. But I haven’t heard much about my favorite autumn practice, leaf magic.
“The tale of Mabon of Modron, the Welsh God, (the “great son of the great mother”), also known as the Son of Light, the Young Son, or Divine Youth, is celebrated. The Equinox is also the birth of Mabon, from his mother Modron, the Guardian of the Outerworld, the Healer, the Protector, the Earth. Mabon was taken after he is a mere three nights old (some variations of the legend say he is taken after three years). Through the wisdom of the living animals — the Stag, Blackbird, Owl, Eagle and Salmon — Mabon is freed from his mysterious captivity. All the while Mabon had rested within his mother’s womb; a place of nurturing and challenge. With strength and lessons gained within the magickal Outerworld (Modron’s womb), Mabon is soon reborn as his mother’s Champion, the Son of Light, wielding the strength and wisdom acquired during his captivity.”

Today’s Recipe: Warm and Spicy Autumn Punch
The aroma of this fall punch recipe tells you that autumn is in the air. Make a batch, and your home will have a fragrance that will alert anyone’s sense of smell.
Sacred Stones: All yellow stones, Lapis, multi colored agates
Mabon Activites: This is such a beautiful season to go outside! Take some nature walks and collect pinecones, acorns, colored leaves and interesting seeds and pods for decorating your home and altar. Other activities include making gourd rattles, harvesting from your garden, share your gardens abundance with others, fill your bird feeders with treats for your avian friends. Most of all, count your blessings. Have everyone in your family make a list of all the things they are thankful for and then read them aloud. I will also include my favorite activity…”feeding the trees”. We share a drink of apple cidar or wine with our trees. This honors not only the tree spirit but my husbands patron The Greenman.

Mabon (pronounced May-bon, May-bone, May-bun, May-bawn) is celebrated at the time of the Autumn Equinox on or around September 21. This festival marks the completion of the harvest begun at Lughnasadh. It is named after the celtic god Mabon. Other names for this Lesser Sabbat include Harvest Home, Festival of Dionysus, The Feast of Avalon, Mea’n Fo’mhair (druid), Winter Finding (norse), Equinozio di Autunnio (strega).
On this day, day and night are again equal and time holds it’s breath as the Dying God gets ready to leave his physical body and begin the great journey to the Summerland. He sees this as the last great adventure of renewal and rebirth. The Goddess who is drowsing in the waning warmth of summer feels her love getting ready to depart as well as the new life growing in her womb.
The threefold theme for this Sabbat is Balance- Gratitude- Reflection. This is also a time of balance not only within nature but within ourselves and our lives. On the great wheel Mabon is balanced by Ostara. It is traditional to clean the unnecessary clutter from your home and life as well as blessing the thresholds of your house. Look back on everything you have done in the past year and with your life. Congratulate yourself on your accomplishments and make note of the areas you need to improve upon. Give thanks to the Lady and Lord, yourself and to everyone who has helped to get where your on this day! This is a wonderful time to do spells of balancing in preparation of the time of relfection that will be coming up at Samahain.
