“The word ‘March’ comes from the Roman ‘Martius’. This was originally the first month of the Roman calendar and was named after Mars, the god of war. March was the beginning of our calendar year. We changed to the ‘New Style’ or ‘Gregorian calendar in 1752, and it is only since then when we the year began on 1st January. The Anglo-Saxons called the month Hlyd monath which means Stormy month, or Hraed monath which means Rugged month. All through Lent the traditional games played are marbles and skipping. The games were stopped on the stroke of twelve noon on Good Friday, which in some places was called Marble Day or Long Rope Day. The game of marbles has been played for hundreds of years and some historians say that it might have been started by rolling eggs. In the past, round stones, hazelnuts, round balls of baked clay and even cherry stones have been used.”

Elephant Journal: 5 Spiritual Lessons from Freddie Mercury to take your life to the Next Level
Freddie Mercury was a master of manifestation.
I watched “Bohemian Rhapsody” recently and was blown away by the spiritual mastery Freddie Mercury possessed. What I found most surprising though, is that he might not have been aware of it.

EarthSky News: Don’t miss moon and Venus before sunup
Before sunrise on March 2, 2019, look east before sunup to see the beautiful pairing of the moon and dazzling planet Venus. Good news. You don’t have to get up much before the sun to view these brilliant worlds. The moon and Venus are bright, the second-brightest and third-brightest sky objects, respectively, after the sun. In fact, people with exceptional eyesight might be able to pick up Venus near the moon after sunrise.

Patheos-Pagan: Night’s Family Tree: Nótt as Mother of the Vanir?
In my earlier post on Nótt, I talked about Her parentage and Her nature, the impressions I get from Her and the textual evidence we have. From here on out, it gets pretty speculative. This rings true with what I’ve experienced of the Vanir and have been told by Nerthus, an ancient Germanic Goddess to whom I am devoted

Inner Journey:
A NEW LOOK AT PROBLEMS
“The problem is not that there are problems. The problem is expecting otherwise and thinking that having problems is a problem.”
— Theodore Rubin
Our lives really begin to change when we learn to shift our perspective on ‘problems.’
From a spiritual perspective, problems offer our best path to growth. Like it or not, pain gets our attention. Discomfort also challenges the ego’s perception that it is in complete control of life. This opens the door for soul’s guidance.
If we want to be rid of the problem, we need to shift from denial and resistance to accept that this situation is present. We need to be willing to truly feel our experience to allow the energy of emotions to move through.
Finally, we need to explore what belief is giving rise to our distress. When we realize the belief is faulty, our shift in perspective resolves the problem. The solution always lies within us.
“No one can go back and make a brand new start. Anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”

A Note from the Universe
Through the prism of time and space the scary stuff always looks scarier than it really is.
But this is offset by the fact that the great stuff is always greater… is frequently on sale, comes in more flavors, and goes with pretty much everything.

Perfection
“Perfection consists not in doing extraordinary things, but in doing ordinary things extraordinarily well. Neglect nothing; the most trivial action may be performed to God.”
-Angelique Arnauld
Perfection is sometimes given a ranking – like a perfect “10” in gymnastics, or a 6.0 in a figure skating competition. But think about it. A lot of people can do a cartwheel, a lot of people can ice skate. These are not extraordinary things. But the way that they are executed in these world championships are! That’s how we can have something to aspire to. Those athletes are the role models for “perfection” in that sport. And yet, those athletes always see room for improvement in some way or another. So, in life, as we aspire to perfection in our spiritual world – we have role models, too. We’d probably give Gandhi or Mother Teresa a “10” – but, they would be the first to say that they were not perfect! Part of our spiritual growth is recognizing that there’s always more to learn.
