One must have a mind of winter
To regard the frost and the boughs
Of the pine-trees crusted with snow;
And have been cold a long time
To behold the junipers shagged with ice,
The spruces rough in the distant glitter.

-Wallace Stevens (1879-1955)

MBG: 8 Ways To Use Nature To Recharge & Disconnect — Even When It’s Freezing Out

Cold winter months have long been synonymous with curling up on the couch, eating hearty comfort food, and hitting snooze on the alarm.
While it’s no secret that time outside is good for you, the benefits of nature just don’t feel as accessible during dark, blustery days.

KarmaTube: We Teach Who We Are: Gratitude

If you ask a child what they want to be when they grow up the answer is never “loved” or “happy” or “peaceful.” We put a lot of weight on success, on setting goals and reaching them. And we quantify those accomplishments. How much did you get done today? What is your salary? How big is your house? Even our connections today are quantifiable. You have 500 friends on social media. You scroll through their posts, briefly acknowledging some with a click. How often do we consider the impact of the singular things in our life? It takes more than a moment to truly appreciate the special people around us

Living Wicca Today: Wiccan Rede and Law Of Three

Most every Wiccan is familiar with the Wiccan Rede and Law of Three. Through them we learn the basic principles of Wicca.

The Full Wiccan Rede begins with “Bide within the Law you must, in perfect Love and perfect Trust. Live you must and let to live, fairly take and fairly give.” And it is summed up with the well known “An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will”

Garden Digest:

“Candlemas’ is the Christianized name for the holiday, of course. The older Pagan names were Imbolc and Oimelc. ‘Imbolc’ means, literally, ‘in the belly’ (of the Mother). For in the womb of Mother Earth, hidden from our mundane sight but sensed by a keener vision, there are stirrings. The seed that was planted in her womb at the solstice is quickening and the new year grows. ‘Oimelc’ means ‘milk of ewes’, for it is also lambing season. The holiday is also called ‘Brigit’s Day’, in honor of the great Irish Goddess Brigit. At her shrine, the ancient Irish capitol of Kildare, a group of 19 priestesses (no men allowed) kept a perpetual flame burning in her honor. She was considered a goddess of fire, patroness of smithcraft, poetry and healing (especially the healing touch of

Inner Journey:

“When coasting in our comfort zones, we don’t grow. We continue to do more of the same…. Maintaining a comfort zone can, paradoxically, lead to discomfort in the long run. If by being comfortable we avoid important life issues, internal tension accumulates…. Eventually, as both internal and external pressures for change persist, the ‘comfort zone’ ceases to serve us.”
— Eric Allenbaugh

It takes effort to change. What do you most want to change in your life? Make a list of what you can do to start the process. Try journaling, perhaps. Read books. Take a course. Find a mentor. Seek out support.

How will you commit time to make it happen? When are you going to start? Your life is passing quickly!

“Be not afraid of changing slowly; be afraid only of standing still.”
— Chinese Proverb

A Note from the Universe

If one hangs out in time and space long enough they’ll inevitably learn it’s through the twin gateways of persistence and patience that masters become masters.

Today’s Recipe: Cranberry Brie Walnut Cups

This recipe is my effort in getting rid of the last of all the cranberry sauce that piled up in my house from all the holiday and new year dinners. These caramelized cups are so easy to make and taste absolutely elegant. When the brie and walnuts heat up together, they make a soft center with a delicious crispy topping you will go crazy for. Give this a try!

Daily Wisdom
January 30, 2019

“Put your heart, mind, intellect and soul even to your smallest acts. This is the secret of success.”

-Swami Sivananda

Commitment is 100%. You can’t hedge a little and say that you are committed. Your actions speak for themselves. Commitment is tied to so many other good things, like integrity – you say you will do something and then you do it, that’s integrity, that’s living up to your commitment. Commitment brings achievement, and success.
