The holly! the holly! oh, twine it with bay-
Come give the holly a song;
For it helps to drive stern winter away,
With his garment so sombre and long.

MBG: In Tribute To Ram Dass: 10 Of Our Favorite Quotes From A Spiritual Icon

Baba Ram Dass, spiritual icon and author of Be Here Now, died peacefully at 88 on December 22, 2019, surrounded by loved ones in his Maui home.

Daily Good: Be Love Now

“Imagine feeling more love from someone than you have ever known. You’re being loved even more than your mother loved you when you were an infant, more than you were ever loved by your father, your child, or your most intimate lover–anyone…This love is actually part of you; it is always flowing through you. It’s like the subatomic texture of the universe, the dark matter that connects everything. When you tune in to that flow, you will feel it in your own heart–not your physical heart or your emotional heart, but your spiritual heart, the place you point to in your chest when you say, ‘I am.'” More in this beautiful passage by Ram Dass. { read more }

Elephant Journal: Why my Little Pagan Heart loves Christmas.

We are a light-loving society, and—though it has gotten a rather bad reputation—we need darkness, too.
One of the things that I love about pagan rituals, and traditions, is that they honor death and darkness as much as they honor birth and the light. Nature is both.

Patheos Pagan: To All The Other Single Moms During The Holidays

My house is in absolute chaos. The living room, which doubles as my workspace, has been overtaken by presents and decorations. Some of those decorations are up, others are still awaiting their place. It won’t happen. They’ll have to be content to wait for next year because there isn’t time. The holidays are here.

Patheos-Pagan: Stirring the Brew: Santa Claus Is Real, Not Literal

When I was very young, about 3 or 4 years old, I saw Santa Claus. He was standing in our living room on Christmas Eve, in his signature red and white, with his pack of toys, saying, “Ho ho!”

Inner Journey:

“In order to live a rich life, everything about who you are must be one, in alignment, and in pure harmony.”
— Suze Orman

For clear and honest expression, our thoughts, speech and actions must all be congruent. We will not stand in our power if we are inadvertently sending mixed messages-if we say one thing and do another.

I found it helpful to consciously identify the values that matter most to me. With these values in mind, it’s easier to ensure I’m living them.

“Honor your integrity and you will be repaid many times over with increased prosperity.”
— Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer

Pioneer Thinking:  Power Outage

During a recent power outage, it occurred to us that not everyone out there is ready for such an event, or equipped with the items needed to lighten the sometimes stressful environment it can create. We have put a few tips together that we hope everyone will find helpful when the lights go out.

Today’s Recipe: Clove: 4 Reasons To Add A Dash Of This Powerful Spice To Everything

Often associated with gingerbread cookies and winter cocktails, clove is what puts the spice in pumpkin spice. Similar to cinnamon or ginger, clove is a spicy, yet warm, aromatic that adds depth to any dish, from garam masala curries to chai tea lattes. But it’s more than just a sprinkling spice; small but mighty, clove packs a surprisingly healthy punch.

Daily Wisdom
December 25, 2019

“Angels come in all sizes and shapes and colors, visible and invisible to the physical eye. But always you are changed from having seen one.”

-Sophy Burnham, 1990

I think we’ve all seen an angel at some point in time. My mailman is an angel when he gets out in the pouring rain to deliver a package rather than leaving a note in my box for me to pick it up at the post office. My son’s teacher is an angel when she stays after school to tutor her students before a big biology test. My cat is an angel when she curls up on my lap just when I need a hug. We need to recognize the angels in our lives, and appreciate how they can change us just by being who they are.

-Lissa Coffey

Daily Tarot: Temperance

A little emotional distance is called for to keep things peaceful and working smoothly. You may be very sentimental or attached to certain issues or other people’s opinions of you but don’t let this rule how the day goes. Don’t let anyone casually or ignorantly hurt your feelings. They may not even know what they’re doing. Stay functional and keep your emotional guards up.
