There are flowers enough in the summertime,
More flowers than I can remember:
But none with the purple, gold, and red
That dyes the flowers of September!

MBG: 5 Self-Care Action Steps You Need If You’re An Energy-Sensitive Person

2020 has been intense—especially in terms of the collective energy. While energy isn’t something we can see with the naked eye, it’s something we can feel. Energy-sensitive empaths often feel the collective energy of a room, a group, or the world, in their own system—and this year made many energy-sensitive folks realize, while they want to help take better care of the world, they also need to take better care of themselves.

Daily Good: Grounding Yourself on Mother Earth

In the vessel of your body, you yourself are the world tree, deep roots in the Earth and a crown of stars. Your essence bridges dimensions. ~Elizabeth Eiler

Grounding Yourself on Mother Earth

“Shamans, Native Americans, and wisdom teachers all over the world see the earth as a giant, conscious, living being. They say pollution sickens her in the same way cancer spreads slowly through a human body. Debilitated though she may be, our Mother Earth still retains tremendous power to heal. When we physically ground ourselves on her surface we are gifted with her vital energies.” In her new book, ‘Awakening Body Consciousness,’ Patty de Llosa offers a path to many ways of healing ourselves in the fractured world we are now living in. Read an excerpt from her fascinating chapter on grounding here. { read more }

Elephant Journal: What we Actually Need during the New Moon (Menses or not).

It’s new moon time again—a time of new beginnings, reflection, and rest.
If you’re a women who’s in sync with nature, it’s “that time.” And if you’re a man who’s with a woman in sync with nature, well, it’s “that time,” too.

In today’s hectic, fast-paced world it’s normal, and even considered good, to power through all the time, even through the times that should be dedicated to rest.

Patheos-Pagan: Why It’s So Hard To Work Magic Right Now

I work magic every month at the full moon. I started doing that several years ago, because I found that if I wait till I have a pressing need, my magical skills aren’t always up to the task. No matter how much natural talent you have, magic is like any other skill. It improves with practice and it deteriorates with neglect.

Pagan Playlist: Forest Folk – Pagan Folk Music

“For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin — real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.”
— Fr. Alfred D’Souza

Life always brings problems. We really can’t live without them.

And so it helps to shift our perspective. We can stop trying to avoid the problems. We can stop feeling victimized by what’s happening. Instead, we can consciously work with the challenge of the moment to learn more about ourselves and the world. When we make this shift in attitude, we discover ourselves to be strong and powerful.

“Every lesson is a widening and deepening of consciousness. It is a stretching of the mind beyond its conceptual limits and a stretching of the heart beyond its emotional boundaries. It is a bringing of unconscious material into consciousness, a healing of past wounds, and a discovery of new faith and trust.”
— Paul Ferrini

Daily Wisdom
September 10, 2020

“And so we plow along, as the fly said to the ox.”

-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-1882)

This quote makes me smile. It’s a funny illustration of illusion. It’s good to keep a sense of humor about ourselves. Life can be hard, but we can still laugh. Sometimes we think we’re going through something really painful, awkward, or difficult – and we look at each other and say “some day we’ll look back on this and laugh” – and that immediately lightens the situation because we know it’s true! Life is full of experiences. Sometimes we’re the ox and sometimes we’re the fly.

-Lissa Coffey
