Where long the shadows of the wind had rolled,
Green wheat was yielding to the change assigned;

The world was turning slowly into gold.

Spirit Library: Adjusting To the Light (a message from Kate Spreckley)

In the last few months we’ve experienced a kind of hurry up and wait kind of energy which has made it difficult to get things going. We have been adjusting to a new light which has made life somewhat uncomfortable. Currently there is a shift in that energy but we are still being urged to spend some time in deep contemplation to assess where we are now.

Celtic Spirit Newsletter September 2020 (exerpt)

Greetings to you, Celtic Spirits!

An old Irish blessing prayer for one about to set forth on a journey invokes the ancient Celtic vision of Nine Elements:

May you go forth under the strength of heaven,

under the light of sun, under the radiance of moon;

May you go forth with the splendour of fire,

With the speed of lightning,

With the swiftness of wind;

May you go forth supported by the depth of sea,

By the stability of earth,

By the firmness of rock;

May you be surrounded and encircled,

With the protection of the nine elements.

We might not think of sun, moon, sea, etc. as elements, plus in magical work, our ideas may have been formed by the classical ‘four elements’ of Earth, Air, Fire and Water, which originally came from ancient Greece.

The power of this Celtic vision lies in making us aware of the tremendous forces in the living world that surround, support and protect us. To open up all our senses and feelings to the Nine Elements is to take into ourselves the magnificent power and beauty of our planet.

When you next go for a walk in Nature, feel yourself part of All That Is, breathe in the life force deep into your belly, and feel your identity expand from an atomized ‘little self’ to one who is an integral part of the ‘big Self,’ one with the web of all life!

Daily Good:

Your openness is more powerful than the feelings you’re opening to. ~John Welwood

Unconditional Presence: Letting Yourself Have Your Experience

“The journey from self-hatred to self-love involves learning to meet, accept, and open to the being that you are. This begins with letting yourself have your experience. Genuine self-acceptance is not possible as long as you
are resisting, avoiding, judging, or trying to manipulate and control what you experience. Whenever you judge the experience you’re having, you’re not letting yourself be as you are. And this puts you at odds with yourself, creating inner division and conflict. The way to free
yourself from shame and self-blame is through making friends with your experience, no matter what experience you’re having.” John Welwood shares how a process of acknowledging, allowing, opening and entering can bring us into our own unconditional presence. { read more }

Elephant Journal: Ceremonial Cacao: Understanding the Power of this Heart-Opening Plant Medicine.

I’ve been sitting in on cacao ceremonies for a few years now.
But I realize that some people don’t even know what one is. As I’m sitting, overlooking the sea, sipping on my morning cacao, it has dawned on me that by sharing what I feel about this beautiful medicine, the more people can receive. (Especially now as we’re being asked to tune in more deeply to our hearts.)

Treehugger: 10 Astounding Facts About Tardigrades

Tardigrades may be the toughest animals on Earth. They have evolved to live almost anywhere and survive almost anything. Some tardigrades can shrug off conditions that would obliterate most living beings, including extremes far beyond anything found on Earth.

EarthSky News: Young moon after sunset September 18 to 21

On September 17, 2020, the new moon passed 5 degrees north of the sun to transition out of the morning sky and into the evening sky. On the day of new moon, we don’t see the moon at all, because it rises and sets with the sun (more or less) and so is lost in the sun’s glare throughout the day. But the moon always returns as it will on September 18, 19, 20 and 21. On one or all of these evenings, you’ll spot the moon as a crescent in the west after sunset.

Patheos-Pagan: Your Favorite Sabbat Sucks

Fall – my second favorite time of year, outranked only by Christmastime. (I suspect I’m one of the few Pagans who just adores that time of year.)

With September, we see the beginnings of fall as it is really expressed: gourds, pumpkins, those stunning yellow and orange color schemes, the falling of leaves, the cold scent hinting in the air…

Pagan Playlist: Pan’s Lullaby – Erutan

“Even though you may want to move forward in your life, you may have one foot on the brakes. In order to be free, we must learn how to let go. Release the hurt. Release the fear. Refuse to entertain your old pain. The energy it takes to hang onto the past is holding you back from a new life.”
— Mary Manin Morrissey

Journaling is a great way to release and let go. To get things off your chest. Our minds are our own worst enemies. The same thoughts go round and round in the same old ways and keep us stuck.

If something bothers you, write about it. Get it out so you can see it from a different perspective. Let it out. Let it go.

Owning and healing your pressure cooker is an important step in claiming your power, building your esteem and making your stand.

“In truth, to attain to interior peace, one must be willing to pass through the contrary to peace. Such is the teaching of the Sages.”
— Swami Brahmanada

A Note from the Universe

Your generosity is making a name for you here in the unseen, while at the same time rattling the floodgates there on the plane of manifestation.

Today’s Recipe: Chef John’s Watermelon Agua Fresca

This is my all-time favorite summertime drink. When it’s hot and humid and you’re totally parched, there’s nothing as refreshing, as revitalizing, and as restorative as ice-cold watermelon agua fresca. It’s one of life’s great drinkable pleasures.

Daily Wisdom
September 18, 2020

“There never was any heart truly great and generous that was not also tender and compassionate.”

-Robert South (1634-1716)

Each of our heroes, in life and in literature, throughout history – no matter how strong – has a gentleness to him or her, an openness, a sincerity that shows us that this person really cares. Spiderman is so popular right now because he’s not just this “larger than life” character who has amazing powers – but because he’s also basically a nice guy. He loves his family, and he struggles to do the right thing. He doesn’t like to see people hurt. He’s not all about the money or the recognition; he really wants to help. Who wouldn’t love a gentle soul like that?

-Lissa Coffey

Daily Tarot: The World

You may not expect or even want it, but today you will be properly acknowledged and even honored for a skill, talent, or accomplishment. Your big heart will also be appreciated. Some sort of public reward is possible, if only in the form of praise, which can be transformed into something more tangible later. If not seeking validation or kudos, be on the alert because it’s coming. You’ve earned it!
