ThoughtCo: Freyja – Goddess of Abundance, Fertility and War

Freyja was the sister of the god Freyr, and was one of the Vanir, the Norse deities of earth and water that lived in Asgard. Venerated by women, heroes and rulers alike, she was the Scandinavian goddess of fertility and abundance. Freyja could be called upon for assistance in childbirth and conception, to aid with marital problems, or to bestow fruitfulness upon the land and sea.

Daily Good: Our Memories of Water

“I began asking friends if they had any memorable experiences with water. I was surprised by the blank looks I got. Like almost everyone else, ordinarily my relationship with water was unremarkable–like our relationship with air and sunshine. If instead, I’d started asking people, “Do you have any really memorable experiences of breathing air?” I’d probably have gotten even stranger looks. I have to laugh, even thinking about it. But we all have deep, buried memories when our earlier contacts with water were still full of wonder and some inexpressible meaning.” In the following piece, Richard Whittaker offers glimpses into his own memories of water, and evokes the personal, as well as the profoundly universal aspects of this elemental force. { read more }

Mary Oliver: The Gift In The Woods.
As I walk along a forest path that will eventually take me up to a mountaintop and its breathtaking view, I am stopped by a large rusted metal spiral hanging from a branch covered in lichen.

You really cannot miss it as it spins in the gentle breeze. I had completely ignored it the first time, even the second time, if I remember correctly.

From around the world these two nights – February 26 and 27, 2021 – the moon will likely appear full to the eye on both nights as it lights up the nighttime from dusk till dawn. In North America, we call the February full moon the Snow Moon or Hunger Moon. As dusk turns into darkness on February 26, you may see a bright star pop out rather close to the moon. That’s Regulus, the brightest star in the constellation Leo the Lion.

Pagan Playlist: Beautiful Irish Pagan Folk Song – Savage Daughter

“If there is a sin against life, it consists perhaps not so much in despairing of life, as in hoping for another life, and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this life.”
— Albert Camus

Have you taken ownership of your life?

When we own our lives, we accept what we’ve inherited and the experiences we hold in our memories. We also lay claim to our right to create new conditions if we’re not happy with what’s come before. We assume responsibility for changing what does not suitus. We acknowledge our own special talents and skills, and truly comprehend our right to enjoy the journey. In short, we embrace the meaning and purpose, the mystery and the beauty of our lives.

“Recognize that life is what you get when you’re born … living is what you do with it.”
— Jim Allen

“It began in mystery, and it will end in mystery, but what a savage and beautiful country lies in between.”
— Diane Ackerman

A Note from the Universe

Just put yourself ahead in time, pretend that it’s next month already, and imagine that the past 4 weeks just totally rocked. Every hope you now possess for the coming weeks had manifested. Every challenge was breezed through. Every cool person stayed cool. Every trickster became an ally. There were happy surprises along the way, and you got plenty of sleep.

This is how we roll.

Daily Wisdom
February 25, 2021

“If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down, but the staying down.”

-Mary Pickford, (in Reader’s Digest, 1979)

Things happen. That’s just the way it is. But at every point in time we have choices to make. We can choose to learn from our mistakes. We can choose to try again. If we were perfect, and never made mistakes, then how could we possibly learn? Our wisdom comes from our own experiences. Like the song says: “pick yourself up, brush yourself off, and start all over again!”

-Lissa Coffey

Daily Tarot: The Pope

It’s important to stick with the plan already in place and be loyal to those who are already committed to you. You’re not so much part of a team as you are the leader of a group of people who will do what you ask of them if you only treat them properly and look after their needs, especially the tiny personal ones.
