Blowing Open the Dusty Windows of Perception

“Certain places — like where springwater falls over a slickrock ledge, sculpting the land of canyons, or where steam bubbles from dark cauldrons in Yellowstone while bison hunker nearby –have a power to radically alter my state of consciousness, such that suddenly my bodymind re-members the most expansive thoughts, ecstatic feelings, deepest mysteries, or the biggest cosmic questions of my life. It’s almost as if I get something like a ‘contact high’ from the land.” { read more }

Patheos-Pagan: Celebrating Spring Flowers While Taking A Walk

One of the nicest things about Spring in Michigan is the ability to take a walk as the days warm. Blue skies and sunshine do a lot to cheer the heart. And one thing I love to do when I’m outside is looking for the Spring wildflowers as they begin to make an appearance.

Pagan Playlist: Magic Fantasy Music – The Last of Her Kind ( Epic Emotional )

“If I get to pick what I want to do, then it’s play… if someone else tells me that I have to do it, then it’s work.”
— Patricia Nourot

Are you continually struggling to accomplish what is expected of you? If so, stop to think for a moment: who holds those expectations?

Perhaps you’re trying to meet the expectations of a parent or a teacher or other authority figures who may be long gone from your life. But many of us toil under the critical eyes of a vague ‘somebody’ who always judges that we’ve never done enough or done things well enough. Who is this phantom judge? And do we need to care about what they think any longer?

We find both our own power and happiness when we begin to set our own standards around what has heart and meaning for us.

“Doubt yourself and you doubt everything you see. Judge yourself and you see judges everywhere. But if you listen to the sound of your own voice, you can rise above doubt and judgment. And you can see forever.”
— Nancy Lopez

A Note from the Universe

Wouldn’t you love it if there were only 3 reasons that anything ever happened in time and space?

  1. Because I love you…
  2. Because you love them…
  3. Because they love you…

Yeah, that was a trick question. There are only 3 reasons that anything ever happens.

I love you,

The Universe

Daily Wisdom
March 15, 2021

“Every time I meet a tree, if I am truly awake, I stand in awe before it. I listen to its voice, a silent sermon moving me to the depths, touching my heart, and stirring up within my soul a yearning to give my all.”

-Macrina Wiederkehr, A Tree Full of Angels (1988)

I can pretty safely guess that we’ve all seen a tree or two in our time. But can we say we’ve actually met a tree? Trees are incredibly beautiful living beings. We can learn so much from their inherent wisdom. My teacher, Louise Taylor, taught me that spirituality is like the trunk of a tree. From there strong branches can grow, our career, health, relationships and everything else. But if we get caught out on a limb, we become off balance. Our spirituality is our strength, our core.

-Lissa Coffey
