“Winter teaches us about detachment, numbness. But it’s a way to get through. From winter we learn silence and acceptance and the stillness thickens.”

Snow moon, eagle moon, full moon in Leo.
Someone said this full moon is sexy, romantic, and spiritual.

Someone else said this full moon is loud and proud—the lion’s roar finally bursting forth.

Another said this moon was a major cycle completion of lifelong patterns that do not serve us. Metaphorically, we’re moving from being buried in snow to melting the patterns away.

Treehugger: How to Help Hummingbirds During the Winter
If you leave a feeder out in winter, will it help the birds or keep them from migrate?

Many hummingbird species are migratory. People who know this often take down feeders in the winter, thinking all the hummingbirds have left and will return when it gets warmer. Some people may even worry their feeder might encourage birds to linger instead of migrate.

EarthSky News: Cassiopeia the Queen reigns in February

Cassiopeia the Queen in late winter and early spring
On late winter evenings and throughout northern spring, Cassiopeia the Queen descends from her throne in the northwest after nightfall. Cassiopeia is one of the easiest constellations to spot because of its distinctive shape. Cassiopeia looks like the letter W or M. Look for the Queen as your sky gets dark in February and March.

Inner Journey:

QUESTIONS THAT AREN’T HELPFUL

“We accept many notions because they seem to be the logical answers to our questions. But have we asked the right questions?”
— Harold L. Klawans

Sometimes we ask questions for which we really don’t want the answer! Nonetheless, when we ask a question, our subconscious minds will get to work to answer us.

Here are some examples of questions we want to avoid:
• What’s wrong with me?
• How long could this take?
• What could go wrong?
• How much trouble could it be?
• How hard could it be?

Asking questions can be empowering – as long as they’re smart questions!

“The uncreative mind can spot wrong answers, but it takes a very creative mind to spot wrong questions.”
— Anthony Jay

Excellence
“If people know how hard I have had to work to gain my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful.”

-Michelangelo (1475-1564)

Can you imagine, back in Michelangelo’s time, the artists who felt jealous of his talent? Some of them may have though: “He’s so good, I’ll never be as good, I might as well not even try.” But here Michelangelo is basically saying that anyone can have that excellence. He’s saying that he worked hard to gain mastery of his art. How many of us are willing to put in the work necessary to achieve the excellence that we so desire?
