Feb 5 Full Quickening Moon at 10:28 am PST/ 11:28 am MST/ 1:28 pm EST
On Sunday, February 5th we celebrate the “Quickening Moon”. Other names for this moon are the Trappers Moon, Budding Moon, Moon When Trees Pop, Ice Moon, Storm Moon, Hunger Moon, Horning Moon, Big Winter Moon. The first signs of spring are beginning to show and you actually feel the earth waking up. The energy is dense and slow, it’s a time for new life and rebirth. At this time of year people are tired of being cooped up. They miss the light and warmth of the sun and like the sleeping plants find themselves reaching for a new beginning.
This moon is a good time for magical workings that involve focus on personal advancement and achievement. On a personal level work on plans for your future. What do you hope for and what dreams do you hold inside yourself? These are the things to consider as you set goals for yourself. The key is to be willing to accept responsibility for past mistakes and be mature enough to let them go and move on. Dare to dream and hope as you look into the future. To honor this moon try wearing colors in shades of blue and purples and adorn yourself with sacred stones like rose quartz, amethyst and earthy jaspers.

ONE STEP AT A TIME
“What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.” — Antoine De Saint-Exupery
Does the prospect of changing and growing seem monumental to you? Just too much to tackle?
Then consider this approach. Take a simple step of affirming your openness to experience more or something new. Or a different first step might be to let go of judgment by embracing the neutral. Begin to see the people, activities and things around you as neither good nor bad.
A journey is made of many small steps. Don’t focus on a far-off destination if you’re not clear how to get there. Build a foundation that is solid for you. We get to new places one step at a time.

Let’s Go Ireland:Complete Guide to Imbolc: Imbolc Blessings, Traditions and History
The Spring Celebration of Imbolc Imbolc is an ancient festival celebrating the change in seasons from winter to spring. It has ancient origins predating Christianity and also probably the arrival of the Celts in Ireland. Recently there has been more awareness about this seasonal celebration and its popularity has grown as people wish to reconnect more with nature, as well as embrace the mix between old Celtic and Christian traditions in Ireland.
“Away in a meadow all covered with snow The little old groundhog looks for his shadow The clouds in the sky determine our fate If winter will leave us all early or late.”
Imbolc (also known as Candlemas, or Brigid’s Day), is the point on the wheel of the year that focuses on the return of spring. It marks the transformation of the goddess from crone to maiden.
Imbolc is also called Candlemass. It was originally celebrated on February 2nd or thereabouts. Imbolc is a Greater Sabbat Day, and marks the beginning of Spring, which reaches its height on Ostara at the Spring Equinox. Imbolc is one of the four Fire Festivals that marked the Celtic calendar.
EarthSky News: Groundhog Day is an astronomy holiday
Groundhog Day is a cross-quarter day Every February 2 since 1887, Punxsutawney Phil in Pennsylvania has made his weather prediction. If it’s sunny and he sees his shadow, it’s said we’ll see six more weeks of winter. If it’s cloudy and he doesn’t see his shadow, it’s said to mean an early spring.

“There is no room for God in him who is full of himself.” — Hasidic Saying
On the spiritual path, we must be diligent to discriminate whether we are acting from ego or from soul. If ego is in charge, what we do is self- referencing. At the deepest levels, we are motivated by our own self-interest. We’re looking out for ourselves more than for others.
Although soul works through individuals, its focus is on the needs of others and on service to humanity.
“Do not feed your ego and your problems, with your attention. … Slowly, surely, the ego will lose weight, until one fine day it will be nothing but a thin ghost of its former self. You will be able to see right through it, to the divine presence that shines in each of us.” — Eknath Easwaran

A Note from the Universe
Accidents, coincidences, and serendipities don’t create dreams.
If gazing into the sparkling purple depths of an Amethyst suffuses you with a sense of powerful well being, this is only to be expected. The ancient Greeks believed that this gemstone held many powers, among them protection against intoxication. In fact, the word Amethyst comes from the Greek word “amethystos,” meaning sober. In ancient Greece, the gemstone was associated with the god of wine, and it was common practice to serve this beverage from Amethyst goblets in the belief that this would prevent overindulgence. Even today, Amethyst is considered a stabilizing force for those struggling to overcome addictive behaviors.
It’s possible that you’re putting yourself under more stress and pressure than anyone or anything else going on around you. It’s not necessary to beat yourself up emotionally like this. Things are fine and you can make things even better if you curtail the urge to obsessively dwell on only what and who is letting you down. Be your own best friend and give yourself credit for what you’re doing right.

Daily Tarot:The Lovers
If you’re hesitant to do something or to make a decision, that’s OK. What urgently needs to be done will be done, so don’t worry about it. There may simply be too many options and too many conflicting requests coming up all at the same time. Sometimes hesitation can be a sign of prudence and a refreshing change from impulsiveness.

Dear Ones,
You likely feel as if the earth will always be chaotic, as if everyone is angry enough to harm others or themselves despite your best attempts to find joy in your world.
Imbolc falls on February 2, and it’s a time to celebrate the goddess Brighid, as well as rejoice in knowing that the end of winter is coming soon. This is the season when the ewes are nursing their newly born lambs, and spring and the planting season are right around the corner.

Inner Journey:THE KEY TO CREATIVITY
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge islimited. Imagination encircles the world.” — Albert Einstein
Do you know the key to creativity?
It rhymes with weed. It produces the oak tree. We often eat it or grind it up for flour. It can mean cause or origination. You guessed it. It is SEED.
Our minds love to associate one thing to another. But as we get stuck in very fixed patterns of thinking, we think of fewer and fewer connections. We are ruled by habits, associations and automatic responses. So we must stimulate our thinking with lots of different seeds to chart new paths in our brains.
“Just as our eyes need light in order to see, our minds need ideas in order to conceive.” — Napoleon Hill

Inner Journey:WORK WITH TENSION
“You never will be the person you can be if pressure, tension and discipline are taken out of your life.” — James G. Bilkey
We need tension in our lives. It’s the force of personal evolution — it sparks creativity and higher consciousness. If we’re not comfortable with a situation, we try to improve it, right?
Tension arises through our experience of opposites. These opposites fight each other as each one struggles for dominance. Tension is transformed when two opposite dimensions of reality are brought together in balance and in wholeness.
Know that tension is an integral part of growth. Instead of avoiding or resisting tension when it arises, identify the opposing forces at play. Make space for each of them to be there together and the tension will transform.
We encounter tensions between positives and negatives, mind and body, self and environment, self and others, and personality and soul – the dualities in our lives.

It might be a busy day, but try to make some time for yourself. Any time you spend meditating or settling your mind will be time well spent. It doesn’t have to be spent sitting around and being idle all day. Staring pensively into that cup of tea for a few moments can be equally beneficial. Spiritual Unite: THE SPIRITUAL MEANING OF KATYDIDS
Katydids are often associated with spiritual growth and intuition. In many cultures, they are regarded as symbols of protection and thought to bring luck, love, relationships, and opportunities.
Spirituality& Health:The Spiritual Meaning of Imbolc by Julie Peters
Imbolc is a holiday of hope, a celebration of the goddess Brigid, and the perfect time to honor your inner fire. Imbolc is an ancient Celtic festival day held on February 1 each year. This is a cross-quarter day, marking the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, that invites the beginning of spring.
Although traditionally Imbolc is associated with Brighid, the Irish goddess of hearth and home, there are a number of other deities who are represented at this time of year. Thanks to Valentine’s Day, many gods and goddesses of love and fertility are honored at this time.
