Daily Good: How to Be at Home

Don’t surrender your loneliness so quickly. Let it cut you more deep. Let it ferment and season you as few humans and even divine ingredients can.~ Hafiz –

How to Be at Home

This tender animation on the theme of isolation reunites filmmaker Andrea Dorfman with poet Tanya Davis ten years after their first collaboration on the viral film “How To Be Alone.” “How To Be At Home” speaks to what so many of us are going through these days with quarantines, lock-downs and stay-at-home orders. “Lean into loneliness and know youre not alone in it.” And remember: we are connected. { read more }

In case you’re missing the forest for the trees, here are a few reminders why woodlands are wonderful.

Forests cover nearly a third of all land on Earth, providing vital organic infrastructure for some of the planet’s densest, most diverse collections of life. They support countless species, including our own, yet we often seem oblivious of that.

EarthSky News: Moon, Fomalhaut in late September

These next several nights – September 28, 29 and 30 – 2020, use the bright waxing gibbous moon to find the star Fomalhaut. This 1st-magnitude star appears in a part of the sky that’s largely empty of bright stars. For this reason, Fomalhaut is often called the Lonely One or Solitary One. It should be bright enough to withstand the lunar glare in late September.

A pumpkin spice latte a day keeps our sanity at bay.

I know that much of my blogging on here as of late has been steeped heavily in warnings and criticisms of our witch and pagan communities. This is obviously because the world we are living in right now is on fire. I also know that this is preventing us from appreciating the little things, such as a nice cup of pumpkin spice latte.

Self-Awareness
“Best to be yourself, imperial, plain, and true!”

-Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How many times have we heard someone give us encouragement by saying: “Just be yourself”? When we were young and needed to make a speech in class, or we were a little too shy to approach our secret crush for a date, a friend or parent would remind us that we had what it takes, that there was no need to be afraid. And, still, today, we need to be reminded. We get nervous, feel that we’re not “as good as” someone else, or that some silly mistake was made and we weren’t supposed to be chosen to give a speech. Self-awareness is knowing who we are, and knowing that we are not only “as good as” or “good enough” but that we are whole and complete, that there is a light within us that shines

Daily Tarot: Justice

Take everything and everyone a little bit more seriously today, without getting grim about it. People may bring you requests or problems that they think are shaking up their world, and you should offer at least a token respect for their worries and needs. None of this puts any pressure on you, unless you get emotionally involved. Remember, you have neither the power nor responsibility to fix it all.

EarthSky News: Peak Perseid mornings: August 11, 12, 13

The composite image above – from John Ashley at Glacier National Park in Montana, in 2016 – perfectly captures the feeling of standing outside as dawn is approaching, after a peak night of Perseid meteor-watching. As viewed from anywhere in the Northern Hemisphere, the Perseids’ radiant point is highest at dawn, and so the meteors rain down from overhead. In 2020, the moon may somewhat intrude on this shower.

Inner Journey:

LISTEN TO YOUR HEART

“To know how to choose a path with heart is to learn how to follow intuitive feeling. Logic can tell you superficially where a path might lead to, but it cannot judge whether your heart will be in it.”
— Jean Shinoda Bolen

“When you have compassion and surrender to your own heart, you are surrendering to the hidden power in your heart, God. You are surrendering to love, because God is Love, the cohesive force of the universe that connects us all. Surrender is not just a religious concept; it’s a power tool for listening to the voice of your spirit and following its directions. When you surrender your head to your heart, you allow your heart to give you a wider, higher intelligence perspective. Remember the phrase, ‘The real teacher is within you.’ Very simply, that teacher is to be found in the common sense of your own heart.”
— Sara Paddison

“Surrender is faith that the power of love can accomplish anything… even when you can not foresee the outcome.”
— Deepak Chopra

A Note from the Universe

The following is NOT wishful thinking, it’s the simple truth:

Once you form a desire for something to have or experience in your mind, it becomes a reality in the world of thoughts. Then, because THOUGHTS BECOME THINGS… that reality immediately goes to work looking for expression somewhere in your vicinity. To help this expression, understand that your job has already been done and that it’s time to let the Universe take over.

This doesn’t mean do nothing, but it does mean that you can stop worrying, stop calculating, and stop second-guessing, so that you can begin listening to the Universe through your own hunches and intuition.

You’re in good hands,

The Universe

If you’ve been working hard toward some goal or specific result, you could see victory today. Feel like a winner, project the confidence of a winner, and perhaps behave as though you have already won. Keep your spirits high no matter what happens and be pleased with how many people are happy for you. No matter how huge or trivial, it is still a big step forward.
