Travelling brings me wonderful opportunities to build awareness. When I get into the car, for example, I set an intention to drive well and stay alert to what other drivers and pedestrians are doing. When I realize that my mind has drifted and I’ve slipped into autopilot, I gently bring my focus back to the present.

It’s also a time when I can pay attention to my reactions. Does irritation arise when someone drives too quickly or slowly, or when I get stopped by a yellow light? Being aware of the irritation gives me the opportunity to acknowledge and then release it. If I choose to, I can be at peace anywhere – even on the road!

A Note from the Universe

Met up with the dearest, little angel over the weekend but she was really sad.

She asked, in the sweetest of angel voices, how there can be so much love in the world, yet so few feel it. How there can be so much beauty, yet hardly anyone sees it. And how there can be so many miracles, yet most are ignored.

So, I reminded her of something far more important. I reminded her that whether or not one knows of the love, they are still bathed in it. Whether or not they see the beauty, they still add to it. And whether or not they recognize the miracles, they still perform them, every single day.

Then we both just beamed.

In the movie “March of the Penguins” we could see how the penguins had some kind of genetic memory that took them on the same journey year after year. It’s memory that makes birds fly south for the winter. In this way our memory can help us learn and grow.
