Sometimes in our head we over-think, and maybe that’s where the self-consciousness comes in. Our ego second guesses us. But the way our hearts think it’s pure; it’s instinctual. We know when something feels right. Our body sends us that signal of comfort when we are making a good decision. And when we have that feeling of discomfort, then something is wrong. It’s a signal for us to choose again. The “feel” of it leads us to the truth. If we had to make a decision solely based on thinking, we may come to an entirely different conclusion. There are too many other factors to consider, and our mind weighs the alternatives. Easier, and quicker, to “go with the gut” in many cases, and basically follow our instinct.

Take a few minutes to write down why you perceive yourself to be unlovable. Look at the list and see if you can identify where those characterizations originated. The beliefs we adopt as children usually don’t hold when we view them objectively as adults. Can you let them go? Can you begin to see yourself as a unique expression of life, a genuine gift to the world?
