I lie stretched out upon the window-seat
And doze, and read a page or two, and doze,
And feel the air like water on me close,
Great waves of sunny air that lip and beat
With a small noise, monotonous and sweet,
Against the window-and the scent of cool,
Frail flowers by some brown and dew-drenched pool
Possesses me from drowsy head to feet.
-Stephen Vincent Benet (1898-1943)

LONDON – The United Kingdom Arts and Humanities Research Council is currently funding a project based on witch bottles, in an effort to understand more about this type of practice. Today’s Deity: Sirona (Celtic-Gaulish)
In Celtic polytheism, Sirona was a goddess worshipped predominantly in East Central Gaul and along the Danubian limes. A healing deity, she was associated with healing springs; her attributes were snakes and eggs. She was sometimes depicted with Apollo Grannus or Apollo Borvo. She was particularly worshipped by the Treveri in the Moselle Valley.

Patheos-Pagan: About Naming Ostara, Litha, and Mabon
Jason Mankey has encouraged me to explain yet again how and why I came up with those names. I suppose that may be useful. Over the years people have wanted to argue with me about which Sabbat Mabon should be associated with. Their arguments have been sensible, but not relevant, because that is not the question I was trying to answer. My question was, What myth might have been associated with the fall equinox? So why was I asking that? The story began when I was 13.
OPENING THE HEART
“Everything is made of light; everything is alive. The Great Mystery of life has little to do with intelligence. The universe is not an intellectual process. The intellect is helpful; but our hearts are the wiser part of ourselves.”
— Mellen-Thomas Benedict
Heart is a word that refers to many different levels of our being. Essentially, it is the love aspect of soul, capable of making direct, intuitive contact. Soul love is not emotional; it is highly impersonal and intelligent, capable of grasping the essence of someone or something without any projection on our part.
Appreciation significantly turns on the heart. Appreciation is not an emotion that arises spontaneously, but a soul quality we can choose. The more often we choose to be appreciative, the easier this choice becomes and the more frequently our heart opens to give and receive love.
“If you open your heart, love opens your mind.”
— Charles John Quarto
A Note from the Universe
Big dreams come true as easily as little ones.
Rich dreams come true as easily as poor ones.
Friendly dreams come true as easily as lonely ones.
And you and I will be together, until the end of time.

“The older one gets the more one feels that the present must be enjoyed: it is a precious gift, comparable to a state of grace.”
-Madame Curie, 1928
We do become more wise as we get older – and part of that is understanding the precious value of the present moment. Maybe it is because we have more of a past to look back on, so we can see just where and when we experienced the most beautiful times of our lives. And maybe it is because we have had more time to enjoy the moments, and we know how good that feels.
