Daily Good: To Be a Loved Horse: Dufresne’s Story

Empathy is a special way of coming to know another and ourself, a kind of attuning and understanding. When empathy is extended, it satisfies our needs and wish for intimacy, it rescues us from our feelings of aloneness.

Carl Rogers –

To Be a Loved Horse: Dufresne’s Story

“A friend of mine was looking to buy a horse that could be a backyard buddy. She didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I suggested we go to the local monthly horse auction to see if we might rescue one of the horses from a potential death sentence.For those of you who are unfamiliar with horse auctions, many times the meat buyers end up taking the unwanted animals at low prices. There are always horses there who have plenty of life left and just need someone to show up and recognize their value, see their heart, and offer them a space where they can just be a loved horse.” What happened next is an unexpected and electrifying story of hope and healing. { read more }

Treehugger: American Pika is Resilient in Face of Climate Change

The American pika is ridiculously cute. The tiny squeaking ball of fur looks like a cross between a bunny and a mouse. Researchers have long warned that the diminutive “rock rabbit” may be at high risk of extinction due to climate change.

EarthSky News: Full moon, faint eclipse, November 29-30

For us in North America, the November full moon is the Beaver Moon or Frosty Moon. In the Southern Hemisphere, where it’s the opposite time of year, the November full moon is a fixture of the spring season. For all of us, this November 2020 full moon shines directly in front of the constellation Taurus the Bull

Patheos-Pagan: Working With Magic in December

I will admit I am a total festive season fanatic, in fact if I am honest our Yule celebrations usually start around 1st November (don’t judge). This time is not about shopping and material things, but it is about the existing positive energy of the season. Spending time with family and friends. Wishing compliments of the season to strangers and bringing festive cheer wherever you go.

Inner Journey: CREATE SPACE

“All this talk and turmoil and noise and movement and desire is outside of the veil; within the veil is silence and calm and rest.”
— Bayazid al-Bistami

We need to create space if we desire to change and grow. Only in emptiness can meaning, intuitive guidance and truth arise.

Give yourself space by spending time in nature, taking an hour or day off, enjoying quiet moments for reflection. Take time to smell the roses. Breathe in the wonder of life and its bounty. Open so your deeper awareness and imagination can percolate through mundane thoughts and activities. Let go of both resistance and force to allow yourself to connect more deeply to life.

“I do only want to advise you to keep growing quietly and seriously throughout your whole development; you cannot disturb it more rudely than by looking outward and expecting from outside replies to questions that only your inmost feeling in your most hushed hour can perhaps answer.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke

“I am glad that so much movement happens in this stillness.”
— Richard Land

A Note from the Universe

Haven’t I always said, knock and it will be opened? Prepare and the way shall be revealed? Speak and all the elements will obey? Act and I will, too? Laugh and be healed? Give and the floodgates will open? Wink and you’ll be winked at? Dream and thy Kingdom will come?

Oh… Well, that’s what I meant to say.

Today’s Recipe: Leftover Mashed Potato Pancakes

This is a great recipe for leftover mashed potatoes. I never liked reheated mashed potatoes, but if you fry them in a pan as a potato pancake, they taste delicious. You might need to adjust the ingredients depending on how much mashed potatoes you have left over.

Daily Wisdom
November 30, 2020

“The well-developed, well-integrated personality is the highest product of evolution, the fullest realization we know of in the universe.”

-Julian Huxley (1887-1975)

All of our life is spent learning who we are, becoming more of who we really are. When we can truly relax, and be comfortable with the knowledge of our self, our radiant personality shows through. We know how we fit in the scheme of things. We recognize our connection to the universe. We appreciate the roles we have to play and understand that we are the ones writing our script.

-Lissa Coffey

Daily Tarot: The Tower

If any problems arise today, they will probably come out of being careless about something simple and normally no trouble at all. Carelessness is the chief threat to having things go smoothly. Even if only small things are lost, broken, or need to be redone, it can make tomorrow even more of a mess than today might be. Pay attention to details, take your time and do your best.
