How sweet to move at summer’s eve
By Clyde’s meandering stream,
When Sol in joy is seen to leave
The earth with crimson beam;
When islands that wandered far
Above his sea couch lie,
And here and there some gem-like star
Re-opes its sparkling eye.

Daily Good: The Fragrance of Prayer
There’s a morning when presence comes over your soul. You sing like a rooster in your earth-colored shape. Your heart hears and, no longer frantic, begins to dance.
– Rumi –
The Fragrance of Prayer
“I was having some downtime in a high place. Having slowed, I could see how much a rushed life had whiplashed my body. When I’m caught in that frame of reference, everything seems whiplashed. Birds fly scattershot and even ants seem indecisive, irritable. The earth grows blurred because I grow blurred. The old rhythms, of course, persist. Things move fast, like larks or light. But none of it rushes.” So begins this beautiful meditative piece by John Landretti. { read more }

EarthSky News: Watch for the moon and the Scorpion
July is a grand time of year to learn to recognize the constellation Scorpius the Scorpion. If you’re in the city – with no dark sky – you probably won’t see the entire constellation. But you can still see the star that represents the Scorpion’s Heart, a bright red star called Antares. Our chart shows the nights of July 27, 28 and 29, 2020, when the moon will approaching this star and then passing it. Watch for the moon on these nights! Despite its glare, Antares’ red color will likely be noticeable to you.

The Corner Crone: The ‘Perfect’ Curse
Gretchen Little writes in Embracing Imperfect Witchcraft:
Lately, though, the more I read, the more pressure I feel to do things perfectly. The underlying message is that if I follow my intuition and not a prescribed way of practicing magick it will lead to at worst, blowing up the space-time continuum or, at least, getting some nasty spirit attachment.

Inner Journey:
ACCEPT CHANGE
“We cannot live the afternoon of life according to the program of life’s morning; for what in the morning was true will in evening become a lie.”
— C.G. Jung
Life continually evolves. We’re always moving into new experiences, new possibilities. This constant change unsettles the personality, which finds security in stability. But with life always in flux, that security is an illusion. We experience pain by trying to hold on to things that are not solid.
Life becomes joyful when we can open to the constant flow and ride freely with it. This requires us to let go of the need to control. We need to learn to trust.
“Can it then be that what we call the ‘self’ is fluid and elastic? It evolves, strikes a different balance with every new breath.”
— Wayne Muller
“We’re never the same; notice how you’re called to write something entirely different about a topic you responded to weeks or months ago.”
— Patrice Vecchione

A Note from the Universe
When you look at old photos it’s obvious isn’t it? You were good-looking back then. Really good-looking. Yet somehow, at the time, you didn’t quite believe it.
Learn from yesterday, because today you’re even better looking than you were then. Way better. You’re smarter, too. Funnier. Wiser. More compassionate. Less serious. And you’re totally sauntering!
Just thought you should know.

Style
“Style is the garb of thought.”
-Seneca the Younger (5? B.C. – A.D. 65)
What we say, the content, is important, and the way we say it, the style, is important, too. I saw a television movie about the life of Mother Teresa and one scene really stuck with me. Of course, her whole life was beautiful, and everything about her was beautiful. But we don’t really associate Mother Teresa as someone who was concerned with style. Ah, quite the contrary! She knew that her appearance was going to make an impression on the people she served. She chose her habit very carefully. She did not want it to be too fancy, or bright, and she didn’t want it to be too plain, or drab. She went through several different designs before choosing the one that she felt was just right. And when she found that one, she stuck with it. She didn’t have to think about it anymore. This was a woman of style. She knew what was right for the occasion and she got just what she wanted.

Daily Tarot: Wheel of Fortune
Restlessness and boredom could slow you down and take you off on some unintended tangent. If you can’t break free of the usual routine today, do what’s necessary and perhaps schedule more delicate tasks for another time when it will be easier to be precise and attend to details. Know your own limits and if possible don’t take on something that will only frustrate you. If you must, start slow.
