MBG: How Turning My Morning Stroll Into A Meditation Reminded Me Of My Worth & Power
One recent spring morning, I ventured out for a rare walk alone to enjoy the emerging changes in nature. It had been raining for what seemed like months, and I needed to get out of the house. It was just after 7 a.m. on a Sunday and everyone was still sleeping.

Treehugger: What’s That Sound? 7 Wildlife Calls You Might Hear in Your Backyard
Squirrels, pigeons and the occasional raccoon or opossum are about the extent of the backyard wildlife most of us encounter. They’re familiar sights around the neighborhood, and we’re used to the sounds they make as they coo, screech and chatter. But have you ever awoken in the middle of the night to a wild sound you couldn’t place.

EarthSky News: Summer Triangle and galactic equator
Tonight, use the Summer Triangle and the constellation Cygnus the Swan to locate the galactic equator – the great circle on the celestial sphere that bisects the glowing band of stars that we call the Milky Way. Sure, it’s autumn here in the Northern Hemisphere, but the three brilliant stars that make up the Summer Triangle still shine in our sky. You’ll find them way up high on October evenings.

Patheos-Pagan: Honoring Literary Ancestors
During this time of year, as we honor our family ancestors, consider honoring literary ancestors as well. Do you have a favorite author who has inspired you, either creatively, with their words, or their life story? Consider setting up an altar for them.

Inner Journey: STAR CONNECTIONS
“The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self. The energy of the stars becomes us. We become the energy of the stars. Stardust and spirit unite and we begin: One with the universe. Whole and holy.”
— Dennis J. Kucinich
Ponder the spectre of yourself as one human being in the over six billion people on Earth. See Earth as one tiny planet in a galaxy of billions of stars, and that galaxy as just one of billions of galaxies in our expanding universe. We are so minute as to be nonexistent. And yet, we have the power to visualize, to imagine the entirety of the cosmos.
In your journal, write about the paradox of being both microscopic and immense.
“I think we would be able to live in this world more peaceably if our spirituality were to come from looking not just into infinity but very closely at the world around us — and appreciating its depth and divinity.”
— Thomas Moore

A Note from the Universe
When just starting out on a new journe, it’s only natural to feel vulnerable, like you have so much to lose.
But may I remind you that never again, at any other point in the same journey, will you have so much to gain?
I’ll take that as a “Yes.”

Study
“The great business of study is for a mind adapted and adequate to all times and all occasions; to which all nature is then laid open, and which may be said to possess the key of her inexhaustible riches.”
-Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792)
Study is exercise for the mind. And what happens, is that just like when we exercise our body and we discover how strong we are, when we exercise our mind we discover how wise we are! The muscles were there all the time, but when we work them, and pay attention to their development, they serve us by being able to lift weights, or hike a mountain, or run a marathon. And our mind is there for us to use the same way. We can be creative, we can be problem-solvers, we can be wise. Our strength, both in body and mind, comes from within.
