ThoughtCo: Thoth, Egyptian Scribe God of Wisdom
Thoth (pronounced “Toth,” rhyming with “both,” rather than with “goth”) was one of the most important deities of ancient Egyptian religion and worship. Thoth was known as the tongue of Ra, who had cursed him, and he often spoke on Ra’s behalf.

EarthSky News: Spectacular! Moon and Venus before sunrise
These next few mornings – December 11, 12 and 13, 2020 – get up before sunrise to enjoy an eyeful the waning crescent moon and the dazzling planet Venus beautifying your eastern sky. Because the moon and Venus rank as the 2nd-brightest and 3rd-brightest celestial bodies, respectively, after the sun, you should have little trouble viewing these brilliant worlds in the glow of dawn.

Patheos-Pagan: Kolyada: The Old Slavic Winter Solstice
On the darkest night of the year, when the world is cold and the sun only peeks out for a few short hours every day, we all need something to lift our spirits. In ancient times, this liminal period between the waning sun and the waxing sun was seen as a time of magic and so in almost every culture, there are rituals and rites that invite the sun’s return.

Inner Journey: DO YOU LOVE YOURSELF?
“At the heart of personality is the need to feel a sense of being lovable without having to qualify for that acceptance.”
— Dr. Paul Tournier
How do you see yourself as unlovable?
Take a few minutes to write down why you perceive yourself to be unlovable. Look at the list and see if you can identify where those characterizations originated. Can you pinpoint old messages from parents, teachers, and friends that led you to negative conclusions about yourself? Are those messages valid today?
The beliefs we adopt as children usually don’t hold when we view them objectively as adults. Can you let them go? Can you begin to see yourself as a unique expression of life, a genuine gift to the world?
“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
— Buddha
“Limitless like the ocean are your excellent qualities.”
— Dalai Lama

A Note from the Universe
S-h-h-h-h-h-h-h!
Don’t say a word and off with the lights!
Now is as good a time as any to watch It’s a Wonderful Life. No, no, not the one with Jimmy Stewart! The other one! You know… starring Cat. It’s the best. A total-underdog, goose-bump, come-from-behind kind of adventure. And what an “ending”!
Whooo-hoooo!
I especially love the part where you, in spite of all evidence to the contrary, finally declare “enough is enough” (actually, far more colorful language is used because we don’t have a rating system here) and you begin visualizing, putting up dream photos on the computer, refrigerator, and mirrors, and start performing simple acts of faith, as if your dreams had already come true, every single bloomin’ day.
The transformation that follows really pushes the envelope on believability. Except, of course, it’s a true story!
It’s also a great psyche-up “watch” for new souls. You know, before their first big plunge.
Definitely two thumbs-up.
Tallyho,
The Universe

Morning
“Morning prospective: imagination.
Evening retrospective: memory.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
This is an entry that Emerson put in his journal one day. I love the way that Emerson expressed himself – so simply, and so beautifully. I can see him in the morning looking ahead, planning, creating, and writing. And in the evening, looking back at what was accomplished, remembering the good things in his life, expressing gratitude

Daily Tarot: The Magician
You might be set up to be the smart one and solve a problem or two for someone else. While it might be your idea of fun to perform and be clever, try to keep things simple, especially if this is a work-related issue. It will cost you little or no effort and win you a lot of admiration, and maybe some monetary reward later.
