If you were lost in the woods, would you follow a compass that was leading you in circles? Would you stay quiet if the guide you were with insisted that their compass was more accurate than the navigational clues you were picking up from the sun, the mountains, and the current of the river?

Treehugger: Artist’s Botanical Bas Reliefs Immortalize Beauty of Plants
These cast artworks highlight the ephemerality of nature.
For centuries, botanists have attempted to document the complexities of plant life by drawing realistic representations of them. This practice has changed a bit with the advent of photography, but other traditional methods, such as nature printing—

EarthSky News: Meet Musca the Fly, a southern constellation
The constellation of Musca the Fly lies deep in the Southern Hemisphere sky. As a south circumpolar constellation, it circles closely around the south celestial pole and therefore does not set. Thus, people who live on the southern half of our globe can view it at any time of the year.

Inner Journey:
LOVE YOURSELF
“If you had a friend who talked to you like you sometimes talk to yourself, would you continue to hang around with that person?”
— Rob Bremer
Thanks to the power of our inner critics, most of us have a very poor opinion of ourselves. Yet self- contempt merely keeps us miserable and stuck in our mediocrity.
If we were to make only one change to transform the quality of our lives, we might try sending a little love our own way.
“A critic is a legless man who teaches running.”
— Channing Pollock
“Unkind criticism is never part of a meaningful critique of you. Its purpose is not to teach or to help, its purpose is to punish.”
— Barbara Sher
“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”

Practice
“Educate the heart – educate the heart.”
-Hiram Powers
We know, conclusively and scientifically now, thanks to Dr. Paul Pearsall, that the heart has intelligence. Our hearts can literally “think!” We can listen to our hearts, we can follow our hearts. The best way to become sensitive to the heart’s messages is through our spiritual practices. Take time to connect, to settle in and be peaceful. Allow your heart the time and space it needs to communicate! Rather than merely educating our hearts, which intuitively know what is best for us, spiritual practice is about educating ourselves to tune in to that intelligence

Daily Tarot: Temperance
Patience is your secret weapon to face down all obstacles today. Take your good old time to make sure you understand what needs to be done, for whom, why, and how. This methodical approach may not be your natural or favorite one, and it might annoy someone who has a different opinion of how urgent the issue is. Nonetheless, patience will get you through the day with fewer, if any, mishaps.
