Your Authentic Voice
by Lisa Sarasohn
When you’re speaking your gut truth, you’re practicing the ancient art of ventriloquy. “Ventriloquy” means, literally, speaking from your belly, voicing the language of your venter: ventri-loquy. Venter is a word of Latin derivation meaning “belly,” “womb,” and “woman as birth-giver.”

“However deep our devotion may be to parents, or to children, it is our contemporaries alone with whom understanding is instinctive and entire.”
-Vera Britain, Testament of Youth (1933)
Some people say that we can’t choose our parents or our children, but we can choose our friends. I don’t know if that is entirely true. I think there is some reason we have the family that we have, either by divine agreement or for learning purposes. I also think that our friends are our friends for a reason, too. We’re making choices all the time, and our friends are making choices, too. And somehow, those choices brought us together. And because we are brought together, we grow. We experience more of what life is about. Understanding is huge! To find a friend who truly understands is a magnificent gift.

Daily Tarot: The Star
Despite any confusion of the day, you’ll be the calm and serene center of any activities. Your calmness will be contagious, too, so look forward to being surrounded by people who want to cooperate with you and be helpful before being directly asked. Take your calm state of mind into the evening, rest well, and see how much you can take with you into tomorrow.
