I spot the hills
With yellow balls in autumn
I light the prairie cornfields
Orange and tawny gold clusters
And I am called pumpkins.

Spiritual Unite: Chinese Medicine Clock – The Guide For Your Body

Traditional Chinese Medicine states that our bodies are subject to a 24-hour energy cycle. Our organs each have separate times during that cycle where they have the highest energy.
From the Chinese Medicine Clock, we can see when the best time is to eat, work, relax, sleep and even share intimacy.

MBG: Feeling Dry & Itchy, Sad, Or Sick? Here’s How To Help Your Body Adjust To The Cold

Winter hasn’t quite arrived, but in many parts of the world, the cold is already here. And that means steamy golden milk lattes, bone broth, and cozy sweaters, but it can also mean sore throats and coughing, excruciatingly dry skin, random aches and pains, and if you’re like me, a plummeting mood as the days get shorter and we inevitably spend less time outside in the sun

Daily Good: 5 Ways Small Actions Have Huge Power

Often we feel like change must come through big donors or governments rather than the ordinary person. But it is just those ordinary people who can work together to change the world. In this delightful graphic from YES Magazine, take to heart the importance of the little gesture. {

Elephant Journal: How Ancient Spells helped me Face the parts of life that Terrified Me.

Last October, I went to Louisiana to visit my brother and his son, Walker, who at that time had just turned five.
The first day I was there, the three of us went to a pumpkin patch in the swampy October heat, where my brother and I stood between haystacks and watched my four-foot-tall nephew hunt for the scariest pumpkin, before deciding on one so large my brother had to bend his knees a little to heave it in and out of the truck.

MNN: 10 natural cough remedies
The next time you have an annoying cough, take your grandmother’s advice and try one of these natural remedies.

Coughing happens when viruses, bacteria, dust, pollen or other substances irritate the nerve endings in the airways between the throat and lungs. A cough is the body’s way of trying to clear the passages, and what a valiant effort the body makes in this endeavor.

Patheos-Pagan: Magical Properties of Seeds

The Seed as a Metaphor
Metaphorically seeds have been used to describe abstract ideas and influences that grow in our minds and souls. The seeds of desire are planted to inspire love and lust while seeds of doubt cause us to question our own motives and self worth. Seeds as ideas and inspiration are planted by teachers and mentors cultivating them in their students to grow into their full potential.

Inner Journey:

“All man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone.”
— Blaise Pascal

Meditation calms our minds and makes it easier for us to pay attention to the reality around and within us. Meditation breaks through the masks that have built up as our identity. It helps us see through our defences and connect with unacknowledged and unloved aspects of ourselves. It opens us to higher mind and the voice of intuition.

We can consciously choose meditation as a way to become more aware of who we truly are. If we don’t take the initiative to open to our authentic selves, we can be certain that deep challenge and pain from life experience will push us to awaken.

“Meditation helps me feel the shape, the texture of my inner life. Here, in the quiet, I can begin to taste what Buddhists would call my true nature, what Jews call the still, small voice, what Christians call the holy spirit.”
— Wayne Muller

“In a world filled with noise, we need to quiet ourselves to hear God’s voice.”
— Paul Borthwick

Daily Wisdom
November 2, 2018

“It is not only the most difficult thing to know oneself, but the most inconvenient, too.”

-Josh Billings

I guess from one point of view, life would be easier if we just had to get up and go to work everyday – we could pretty much be on auto-pilot and navigate through life without much effort. But what a waste of time and energy that would be. And how boring, too! Sure, spiritual growth takes effort – we need to make time to meditate, read, serve and take care of ourselves and the planet. But isn’t that the best part about this life? Once you get started on “the path” and see all the wonders that a spiritual life offers, you want to keep going. Sure, self-knowledge is difficult, messy, challenging, and inconvenient – but it is also the most magnificent and amazing gift that life has to offer.
