“Was it the smile of early spring
That made my bosom glow?
‘Twas sweet, but neither sun nor wind
Could raise my spirit so.
Was it some feeling of delight,
All vague and undefined?
No, ’twas a rapture deep and strong,
Expanding in the mind!”
– Anne Bronte, In Memory of A Happy Day in February
ThoughtCo: The Pagan Origins of Valentine’s Day
Many consider Valentine’s Day to be Christian holiday. After all, it is named after a Christian saint. But when we consider the matter more closely, the pagan connections to the date appear much stronger than the Christian ones.

Spirit Library: The Middle Way
In these transitional times it is imperative that we recognise the power of our thoughts, our words and our actions. We are manifesting so much faster now and it is vital that we are clear within ourselves as to what we are thinking and what we are feeling. Now is the time for us to find the middle way of balance,

MNN: In the Victorian era, people sent anonymous ‘Vinegar Valentines’ for fun

EarthSky News: Big Dipper stars point to North Star
Tonight, if you can find the Big Dipper in the northern sky, you can find the North Star, Polaris. The Big Dipper is low in the northeast sky at nightfall, but it’ll climb upward during the evening hours, to reach its high point for the night in the wee hours after midnight.
Patheos-Pagan: Lovely & Lusty Magickal Potions To Tickle Your Fancy
Around here lovely and lusty magickal potions are always in the air. I can’t speak about these kinds of potions and workings without talking about ethics. When I wrote my book Love Magic, I began writing about the serious topic of ethics concerning spell work, particularly of this kind.
“If you had a friend who talked to you like you sometimes talk to yourself, would you continue to hang around with that person?”
— Rob Bremer
Thanks to the power of our inner critics, most of us have a very poor opinion of ourselves. Yet self- contempt merely keeps us miserable and stuck in our mediocrity.
If we were to make only one change to transform the quality of our lives, we might try sending a little love our own way.
“A critic is a legless man who teaches running.”
— Channing Pollock
“Unkind criticism is never part of a meaningful critique of you. Its purpose is not to teach or to help, its purpose is to punish.”
— Barbara Sher
“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
A Note from the Universe
The presumption at all times and under all circumstances, should always be that you are good enough, worthy enough, and lovable enough. And that you are exactly the right kind of person, in the right place, at the right time. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have been instilled with such dreams in the first place.

There’s no accounting for someone else’s picky palate tonight. It’s all about you. Read more….

“Perhaps I am a bear, or some hibernating animal, underneath, for the instinct to be half asleep all winter is so strong in me.”
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh, 1971
It is our instinct to go within, to seek warmth, to find that inner light. It’s more dark in the winter, so we turn within for that light, and it’s there, like it always is. That feeling of wanting to “cocoon” in winter is strong because it feels good. We all need that, and the season provides it to us.
Daily Tarot: The Emperor
You have extra protection today, but this is not a reason to act rashly or take extra risks. In fact, you may be called upon to protect someone else or to safeguard some progress or advantage that was recently gained. Have self-confidence in all situations but don’t take your safety for granted. Be willing to be responsible for those around you and win a lot of loyalty.
