ThoughtCo: 11 Pagan Fertility Deities of Beltane

Beltane is a time of great fertility—for the earth itself, for animals, and of course for people as well. This season has been celebrated by cultures going back thousands of years, in a variety of ways, but nearly all shared the fertility aspect. Typically, this is a Sabbat to celebrate gods of the hunt or of the forest, and goddesses of passion and motherhood, as well as agricultural deities. Here is a list of gods and goddesses that can be honored as part of your tradition’s Beltane rituals

Daily Good: Brink of Extinction

Anna Louisa first became interested in Faroese ponies because of a children’s book. She soon learned that these enchanting creatures, ponies by size but often called horses due to their strength, were almost extinct. Between 1850 and 1920 large numbers of them were exported from their home in the Faroe Islands. By 1960 there were only five left in the wild. Fortunately they have made a remarkable comeback due largely to “the lady with the horses.”

MNN: If you want to feel happier, just spend 20 minutes in nature

Nature soothes our stressed-out souls. We instinctively know nature is the best prescription, but new research is revealing how little time we need to set aside to reap the benefits.
In one new study, published April 4 in the journal Frontiers in Psychology, researchers tried to identify the most effective “dose” of nature within the context of normal daily life. As more doctors prescribe nature experiences for stress relief and other health benefits —

Many skywatchers enjoy seeing the young moon return each month to the west after sunset. If you’re one of them, now is the time to look for that fleet little moon that appears in the west at evening twilight, then sets before nightfall.

Patheos-Pagan: Back to Sacred Dance

It’s hard being the new kid in town, for me, it’s not a new thing. I’ve been the new dance kid every few years, moving from the East Coast to Japan, and back to the East Coast, then to Arizona and finally here in Oregon. Each time I was the new dancer in town I rushed in and for the most part, I was welcomed with open arms.

Purpose
“Not only to see and find the Divine in oneself, but to see and find the Divine in all, not only to seek one’s own individual liberation and perfection, but to seek the liberation and perfection of others is the complete law of the spiritual being.”

-Sri Aurobindo (1872-1950)

The more we grow spiritually, the more we realize how we fit into the bigger picture. We’re never alone on this journey. We’re all in it together. The closer we find ourselves to spirit, the closer we see that we are to each other.

Spiritual Unite: Potent Cosmic Energies This Summer/Winter Solstice

The June Solstice falls on the 21st, the same day as the Full Moon. This is of particular significance and will amplify the cosmic energies of this already potent day.

In the Northern Hemisphere the solstice represents the starting of summer. On this day, we will have the longest period of sunlight and the shortest period of darkness.

EarthSky News: Summer solstice at Stonehenge

It’s summer solstice time for us in the Northern Hemisphere. This solstice occurs at the instant the sun reaches its most northerly point on the celestial sphere, the imaginary sphere of stars surrounding Earth. In 2018, the June solstice happens at 10:07 UTC on June 21; translate to your time zone. Many – perhaps you – will celebrate this solstice sunrise, or next year’s solstice sunrise, at Stonehenge. Why?

Patheos-Pagan: Midsummer Reset Ritual

A Note from the Universe

OK, can you keep a secret?

Let me tell you what happens…

There’ll be trumpets, fanfare, and parades. Happy tears, giggles, and hugs. Shrieks of joy, fits of laughter, and reunions with best friends.

There will be quiet, reflection, and revelations. Aha’s! No-way’s! And, of course, You-have-to-be-kidding’s!

Eventually followed by a deep, often surprising, longing for what will by then be viewed as the dream-life you led.

You could plot it on a chart.

The point of course, is that you are now living that dream-life.

Tallyho,

The Universe

Creativity

“We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.”-Nelson Mandela

Part of our purpose in life lies in our creativity. We are each an individual expression of God, and we each have a special contribution to bring to this planet. What makes your heart sing? What do you love to do? When you are doing that, you are expressing the divine presence within you. It’s joyful, it’s glorious!
