ThoughtCo: How to Make a Book of Shadows
The Book of Shadows, or BOS, is used to store information you’ll need in your magical tradition, whatever it may be. Many Pagans feel a BOS should be handwritten, but as technology progresses, some use their computer to store information as well. Don’t let anyone tell you there’s only one way to make your BOS, because you should use what works best for you!

Thirty years of studying the sophisticated communication of humpback whales off the coast of Argentina taught her that they not only communicate in relation to food and protection, but often what they share are ever-evolving songs. Songs that are complex, theme-based, and melodic.

MNN: 5 things to know and love about dung beetles
Who would expect greatness from a creature whose first name is essentially “turd”? The scarab beetle, despite being a kind of dung beetle, has been dining incognito, coasting on its name — and all that ancient Egyptian mystique — for millennia.

EarthSky News: Orion and Sirius the Dog Star
In late August and early September, look for a hint of the changing season in the predawn sky: Orion the Hunter and Sirius the Dog Star. The very noticeable constellation Orion the Hunter rises before dawn at this time of year, recognizable for the short straight line of three stars that make up Orion’s Belt.

Patheos-Pagan: A Ritual to Remove Curses We Place On Ourselves
In a recent private conversation, a friend mentioned that they once wished something would go away forever – and it did.
That was then – this is now. Now they have a rather different outlook on life (they’re a Pagan and not a Christian) and they regret the absence of something they’d like to have back. They said “I really shouldn’t have cursed myself like that.”

Inner Journey:
CO-CREATION
“[Manifestation is] the art of fashioning a co- creative, synchronistic, and mutually supportive relationship between the inner creative energies of a person’s own mind and spirit and their counterpart within the larger world in order to bring a new and desirable situation into being.”
— David Spangler
I have always understood that Spirit works through us. Only recently have I really come to appreciate how Spirit works WITH us. The divine life force partners with our unique perspective, our passion and our skills to create new life situations.
We are not passive vessels for God’s will. To realize our highest potential, we must co-create with the divine.
“We must see ourselves as co-manifestors — partners in manifestation — all engaged in the primal act of unfoldment and emergence. Each act of manifestation may be directed toward a specific outcome, but it also contributes to the greater manifestation of the wholeness, love, compassion, and creativity of the primal source from which we all come.”

Leisure
“He enjoys true leisure who has time to improve his soul’s estate.”
-Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)
Spiritually, we know that there is no such thing as time. And yet, here we are, living this existence, and we have these constraints to deal with. There is only so much time, so many hours in a day, so many vacation days in a year. So, how do we spend our time? And more importantly, how do we spend our precious leisure time? If we take Thoreau’s advice, we spend that time in spiritual pursuits, and then we understand how wonderful leisure can really be.
