April Events & Holidays
April 24 Arbor Day
April 30 Walprgis Night
Summer, fall, winter, spring,
The seasons rotate as each brings
Its special beauty to this Earth of ours.
Winter’s snow and summer’s flowers;
Frozen rivers will flow come spring,
There is a renewal of everything.
-Edna Frohock (1906-97)
Spirit Library: Find Meaning (a message from Kate Spreckley)
Consciousness is expanding as humanity rises to a new level of awareness and understanding. Our experience of life is changing, reality is transforming and our perceptions are shifting.

MBG: 17 People Share How Quarantine Has Changed Their Perspective On Nature
During a time when it feels like so much has been taken away, the natural world outside our windows remains. Our plans may be on an indefinite pause, but our environment keeps carrying on all the same. In honor of Earth Day, here, 17 members of the mbg community share how they are watching it with a new sense of appreciation and awareness:
Daily Dream Meaning: Guns
1. In Freudian dream analysis, a symbol for physical passion. If the dreamer is the one doing the shooting, then he is consciously or unconsciously searching for a partner. If the dreamer is the one being shot, someone out there feels desire for him.
2. The release, or need for release, of pent-up anger. Again, if the dreamer is doing the shooting, she needs to control her temper and find a positive way to release her anger. If she is the victim, then someone is angry with her.
3. Something important coming up, implying a need to “get out the big guns.”
Astrological parallel: Mars/Uranus combinations.
Tarot parallel: The Tower.

Elephant Journal: A Quickie Coronavirus Crystal Relief Ritual
Being quarantined can feel at times restful and restorative, and other times frustrating and stressful.
If you find yourself in the latter category, sometimes adding a little something extra to your routine can help. While yoga, binge watching true crime, and taking up cross stitching are certainly worthy pursuits, I recommend adding some dazzle to your day by working with crystals.
MNN: 12 incredible facts about lemurs
Lemurs are easy to love. They’re cute, charismatic and oddly humanlike, which isn’t just a coincidence. Lemurs are primates like us, and while they’re not as closely related to people as chimpanzees and other apes are, they’re still family.
EarthSky News: Venus at its brightest in late April
Late April 2020 presents the planet Venus at its brightest as the evening “star” for all of this year. No matter where you live worldwide, look west after sunset to marvel at this brilliant beauty lighting up the evening dusk first thing after sunset.
Patheos-Pagan: Walpurgisnacht: Fertility Rite. Witches Night. And All That Jazz.
So, as we near the end of April there is a Spring celebration coming up — Beltane and Walpurgisnacht (Walpurgis Night). Today, I have decided to take a look at Walpurgisnacht. What is the history behind the observance and why might it be important for me as a Witch?

Capture your inspiration!
“Ideas can come from anywhere and at any time. The problem with making mental notes is that the ink fades very rapidly.”
— Rolf Smith
Insights and inspiration come to us for a reason. Don’t let them disappear on you!
When a great idea pops into your mind, write it down and capture it. Keep a mini-journal or piece of paper with you at all times.
Reflect on your insights. How might you anchor this great idea so it enhances your life?
“Everyone who has ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it that makes a difference.”
— Nolan Bushnell
A Note from the Universe
I have to tell you that one of the greatest things about being the Universe, is knowing absolutely everything.
Well, that and making dreams come true.
I also love being eternal… and having no limits.
Creating worlds simply with thought.
Knowing that reality is unfolding just exactly as it should.
Having it all, being it all, doing it all.
And I like being perpetually in love… and loved.
How ’bout you? What’s your favorite thing about being the Universe?
Today’s Recipe: Ma’amoul (Lebanese Date Cookies)
After a few phone calls with my mom and grandma, I managed to write a detailed recipe for one of my favorite Lebanese sweets, ma’amoul. They take time to make, but are not very difficult. Wooden ma’amoul molds give them their distinctive decorative shapes.

Friday belongs to Venus, and its energies are warm, sensuous, and fulfilling. Efforts that involve any type of pleasure, comfort, and luxury, as well as the arts, music, or aroma (incense and perfume) works well on this day. As Venus lends its sensuous influences to the energies of this day, use it for any magical work that deals with matters of the heart.
“If we can recognize that change and uncertainty are basic principles, we can greet the future and the transformation we are undergoing with the understanding that we do not know enough to be pessimistic.”
-Hazel Henderson (1981)
One of my favorite books of all time is Martin Seligman’s “Learned Optimism.” It is a classic, and it makes so much sense. The subtitle is “How to Change Your Mind and Your Life.” It’s just a matter of looking at things, including the future, differently. It can make a huge difference in how we experience things.
Daily Tarot: The Magician
It may be hard to be serious and stick to those dull but crucial tasks that keep the day running smoothly. Be systematic, cheerful, and don’t let it show if you feel undervalued or underappreciated. Save your sharp wit and cleverness for another time and place. Time spent with younger people or children can lift your spirits and keep things in perspective for you.
