On this scene enter–winged, horned, and spined—
A longlegs, a moth, and a dumbledore;
While ‘mid my page there idly stands
A sleepy fly, that rubs its hands . . .
–Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)

Spiritual Unite: The 3 Types Of Soul Connections

We talk a lot about spiritual relationships around here, but did you know that there are many types of soul connections? You would be forgiven for not knowing, as they often go without mention. In truth there are 3 (or 4, depending on who you ask) broad types of soul connections that all soul connections fit into.

MBG: The Spiritual Lesson Your Perfectionism Is Trying To Teach You

Perfectionism gets a bad rap. I’m a professional psychic intuitive, and when I tell a client I can sense that they have a tendency toward perfectionism, they will often respond by saying, “Ugh, I know! My perfectionism is terrible!” This kind of response only leads to feelings of shame and self-judgment.

Elephant Journal: A Guide to Getting through our “Mind Attack” Moments.

It never ceases to amaze me how crazy the human mind can be.
In many ways, we’re still monkeys—except sometimes, a little more chaotic.
You know those moments where we get triggered by something from our past and completely lose touch with reality?

MNN: Paul Barton brings his music — and a moment of peace — to rescued elephants

The first time Paul Barton played a piano for elephants, an old, blind male named Plara was closest to the piano. He was one of the many residents at Elephants World, a sanctuary for sick, abused, retired and rescued elephants in Thailand, where Barton had decided to volunteer.

EarthSky News: Use Big Dipper to find North Star

Tonight’s chart shows Polaris and the Big and Little Dippers for a September evening. You can use the Big Dipper to find Polaris, which is also known as the North Star. Notice that a line from the two outermost stars in the bowl of the Big Dipper points to Polaris. And notice that Polaris marks the tip of the handle of the Little Dipper.

Patheos-Pagan: Big Darkness and Tiny Life

Ah, the Dark Time. Early, early sunsets of gorgeous lavenders, reds and orange. Cold, cold mornings. Fire in the woodstove, first thing!
And rain! Praise RainKing! We’re getting just a bit of wet so far, but it’s enough to make the dark time confusing.

Inner Journey:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”
— Albert Einstein

Do you know the key to creativity?

It rhymes with weed. It produces the oak tree. We often eat it or grind it up for flour. It can mean cause or origination. You guessed it. It is SEED.

Our minds love to associate one thing to another. But as we get stuck in very fixed patterns of thinking, we think of fewer and fewer connections. We are ruled by habits, associations and automatic responses. So we must stimulate our thinking with lots ofdifferent seeds to chart new paths in our brains.

“Just as our eyes need light in order to see, our minds need ideas in order to conceive.”
— Napoleon Hill

“Anyone can look for fashion in a boutique or history in a museum. The creative explorer looks for history in a hardware store and fashion in an airport.”
— Robert Wieder

A Note from the Universe

If you’re at least visualizing enough to wonder whether or not you’re doing it right, you’re doing it right, and you’re way, way ahead of the game.

Today’s Recipe: Rustic Apple Plum Cake

I usually make a similar cake with apples and cinnamon, but I was gifted a huge box of organic apples and plums recently. I could not resist tweaking my recipe to include both fruits, and trying nutmeg instead of cinnamon. This fun experiment made such an amazing cake, I just have to share the recipe with you!

In the great gardens, after bright spring rain,
We find sweet innocence come once again,
White periwinkles, little pensionnaires
With muslin gowns and shy and candid airs.

Spiritual Unite: 12 Psychic Signs of Love You Should Recognise

We’re psychically connected to the entire universe. What makes that connection powerful is true love. We’re complete individuals, with unrestricted potentials of empathy and love. Our talents lay dormant as long as we don’t find someone who makes us believe in ourselves. Soulmates come into our lives to serve that purpose. They propel us towards endless love and light.

MBG: The One Part Of Your Home You’re Not Paying Enough Attention To, According To Feng Shui

Feng shui philosophy says that playing up your home’s entryway changes the way you experience the world. Entries blur the boundary between the outside world and our inner sanctuary, and they’re the first chance to deliver a good impression. These thresholds are the ideal space for welcoming fanfare—a home’s signature way of pulling us into an embrace. So if your foyer could use some tending to, here are a few ways to bring it into full bloom according to feng shui:

Elephant Journal: What Everyone Gets Wrong About Life Purpose

If there’s one thing we’re all searching for in our lives, it’s purpose.
We want to feel happy, fulfilled, meaningful—like our lives matter. We want to feel like there’s a point to all of this and that even our worst suffering is leading us somewhere.

At its core, it’s what we’re all actively seeking when we study spirituality, travel the world, achieve success in our work, and connect with loved ones. To know and share our purpose.

MNN: When you walk home at 5 a.m., sometimes you meet some strange characters

Police officers get all sorts of weird calls — especially around 5 in the morning. Just ask the North Ridgeville Police Department, about 25 miles southwest of Cleveland. The department got a call on May 19 from a man who said he was walking home from a train station and was being followed by a pig and didn’t know what to do.

EarthSky News: Look for the legendary green flash

The green flash image at the top of this post was taken by Jim Grant, an EarthSky friend on Facebook. He captured it off the coast of Ocean Beach, California and identified it a mock mirage green flash.

Patheos-Pagan: Magic In The Office – 3 Things I Do At Work

Gwion Raven of The Witches Next Door has an interesting post titled Magic In The Office – 3 Sneaky Things I Really Do At Work. One of his jobs is serving as a business consultant – he describes how he uses magic to get the results his clients need, which keeps him gainfully employed.

Inner Journey:

“We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves. The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal. Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don’t accept others the way they are.”
— Don Miguel Ruiz

“The maxim ‘Nothing but perfection’ may be spelled ‘Paralysis.'”
— Winston Churchill

“After enough mirror gazing, we all develop our ‘cosmic sense of humor.’ We no longer try to be perfect, or try to get all our work done in time. We become content with whatever life brings. Just to deal with what comes up without crucifying ourselves or others is enough of a challenge.”
— Paul Ferrini

“Good enough never is.”
— Debbi Fields

A Note from the Universe

Believing you can, you can. Though you might not.

Believing you can’t, won’t change that you can. It just hides it.

Whereas simply getting started, however timid your first steps are and consistently moving in the direction of your dreams day after day, will eventually create such unstoppable momentum, you’ll find it nearly impossible to believe that there was ever a time when you wavered.

Let’s give them something to talk about –

Today’s Recipe: Black Bean Quinoa Salad

I threw this together for a quick summer salad this week. My husband loved it so much that he said he would eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Quinoa is so versatile and a great substitute for pasta or rice.

“To have freedom is only to have that which is absolutely necessary to enable us to be what we ought to be.” -Ibn Rahel (Medieval Christian chronicler, lived in Egypt)
One of my children’s songs has a line in it that says: “You gotta be you and you gotta do what you love to do.” That’s freedom. Freedom lets us be ourselves. We often take freedom for granted – it feels so natural to us. But we need to recognize it every once in awhile, and celebrate it.

-Lissa Coffey

Beliefnet: 7 Things That Happen When You Take Responsibility For Your Life

Too many of us simply drift through our lives, allowing fate to take us where it may. But a life without commitment is a life wasted, and so it’s important to live on purpose, and to make intentional choices every single day.

This is how you build a life that is truly yours—you put it together, choice by choice.
