MBG: How The Concept Of “Rewilding” Can Transform The Way You Interact With Nature

For years as a therapist and conservationist, I’ve witnessed—in group circles, on social media, with clients, and within myself—a collective mourning for a loss of community and connection. I’ve felt a sense of impending ecological disaster and seen desperate searches for embodied, purposeful, and wildly free ways of life.

Daily Dream Meaning: Water

1. If the dreamer is drinking water, this is a symbol for enjoying life. If the dreamer is at presently in bad circumstances, dreaming of drinking water implies that good times are ahead.
2. Clear, calm water portends happiness, while river rapids or crashing surf implies rough times on the horizon.
3. A waterfall, particularly if there is also a rainbow in the dream, indicates success, happiness, and wealth coming into the dreamer’s life.
Astrological parallel: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
Tarot parallel: The suit of cups.

In this intimate conversation between Krista and one of her beloved teachers, we ponder the world and our place in it, through sacred text, with fresh eyes. Were accompanied by the meditative and prophetic poetry of Wendell Berry, read for us from his home in Kentucky: Stay away from anything / that obscures the place it is in. / There are no unsacred places; / there are only sacred places / and desecrated places. / Accept what comes of silence.{ read more }

Since I can remember, I’ve always been a stargazer, a lost wanderer staring into the infinite abyss.
“Dad, I bet I can count more stars than you!” I would say, while sitting in the back of my dad’s Ford pickup. He’d always smile and beat me at counting them. I loved sitting with my family outside to hear stories and watch the stars.

LEARN TO LET GO

“To attain knowledge, add things every day. To attain wisdom, remove things every day.”
— Lao Tzu

How do we take something away? As we cultivate higher awareness, we begin to see just how much we have added things that really aren’t there to our picture of reality. Our beliefs, concepts and emotions all add layers of meaning to physical reality, butthat meaning exists for us only – it has no objective existence. For example, the word ‘mother’ has a complicated network of meaning for each of us.

Become aware of how your beliefs and emotions colour your perception of different events in your life. See if you can begin to step out of your fabrications to experience the truth and spaciousness of what is.

“When guilt rears its ugly head confront it, discuss it and let it go. The past is over. … Forgive yourself and move on.”
— Bernie S. Siegel

Future
“The only certain thing about the future is that it will surprise even those who have seen furthest into it.”

-E.J. Hobsbawm
Surprise! The future is that realm of uncertainty – beautiful, and a little scary, but would we have it any other way? Wouldn’t life be totally boring if we knew all the time exactly what was going to happen? The future can change with a thought

Daily Tarot: The Moon

If you’re feeling vulnerable or in a vulnerable or fragile position, take half a step back and give yourself more breathing room. You’re actually doing fine, but if that’s not your perception then nothing will convince you otherwise. If you need a break or a little time off, see if you can arrange it, if only for a few hours. This is not a show of weakness. Take care of yourself.

ThoughtCo: Magical Banishing Spells

In many traditions of Paganism, banishing is done to get rid of negative or unwanted energy, or even people who may be causing problems in our lives. While some traditions frown upon banishing as manipulative magic, on the theory that it impacts the free will of another, if your tradition has no prohibitions against such things, then there’s no reason you can’t do a banishing spell.

Daily Good: Micah Mortali: Rewilding

“Micah Mortali is the director of the Kripalu School, and a longtime wilderness guide. With Sounds True, he has published Rewilding: Meditations, Practices, and Skills for Awakening in Nature. In this episode of Insights at the Edge, Tami Simon speaks with Micah about humanity’s growing disconnection from the earth and how “rewilding” can help slow that trend. They talk about rewilding both as individuals and as part of whole ecosystems. Micah also shares the story of an intense, revelatory trail encounter with a bear and comments on the “species loneliness” of urban environments. Mulling the sense of grief they have for humankind’s effects on the environment, Tami and Micah consider how modern people can grapple with being in exile from the natural world. Finally, they discuss the barriers many have to reentering nature, as well as ways to initiate your own rewilding experience no matter where you are.”{ read more }

Inner Journey:

ATTEND TO THE GAPS

“Practice silence and you will acquire silent knowledge. In this silent knowledge is a computing system that is far more precise and far more accurate and far more powerful than anything that is contained in the boundaries of rational thought.”
— Deepak Chopra

When I was being taught Vipashyana meditation, I was guided to experience the stillness that naturally arises in the moments between the in and out breaths. And Eckhart Tolle recommends becoming aware of the spaces between words. He says that stillness brings awareness of silence, and it’s in the silence that we can experience being fully awake. Consciousness is beyond thought activity. There’s more power in the gaps between the words than in the words themselves.

“In the sweet territory of silence we touch the mystery. It’s the place of reflection and contemplation, and it’s the place where we can connect with the deep knowing, to the deep wisdom way.”
— Angeles Arrien

Bagels are delicious, but unfortunately, they aren’t the healthiest breakfast option. Flowers

“Where is the fountain that throws up these flowers in a ceaseless outbreak of ecstasy?”

-Rabindranath Tagore (1803-1882)

The source – the fountain – from which this vast array of beauty is born, is the same source that gives us life. And the spirit in which these amazing displays of ecstasy are created is the same spirit with which we were brought to this place and time. We are here to grow, to bloom, to share our gifts with the world.
