The orange-tinted sassafras
With quaintest foliage strews the grass;
Witch-hazel shakes her gold curls out,
Mid the red maple’s flying rout.
-Lucy Larcom (1854-62)

Spirit Library: Scorpio Season Is Here! (a message from Kari Samuels)
On 10-22-2020 our sun moved into the soul-stirring sign of Scorpio.
This is a sign that dives deep. In a year where everything is intense, we’re traversing even deeper

Beautiful Truths on Life & Love from Kahlil Gibran.
I’ve always been an avid reader.
I was still a kid when I first heard about Gibran Kahlil Gibran—who they called “The Prophet.”
I was still young back then, and I wasn’t interested in digging deeper into his philosophies. But that changed when I received a small collection of his books as my birthday gift

Considering the Sun and Mercury are now in spooky, sultry Scorpio and we have a full moon (the second of the month!) falling on the 31st, all signs point to an especially charged Hallow’s Eve next week. Here’s a peek at the spiritual undertones of this special time of year and why they might feel even more intense this year.

Today’s DIY: Creating a Book of Shadows
A Book of Shadows is probably the most famous of tools used by Witches, next to a broom, of course. Many of us wooed in awe over the BOS that the sisters in TV Series, “Charmed.” I personally wanted the Spellbook that Winny had in “Hocus Pocus.”
Elephant Journal: It’s Time to Embrace the Wonderful Eccentricity of being Imperfectly You.
Everywhere we turn, someone is telling us how we should live.
What we should eat, drink, and how much we should exercise. How to find love, how to break up, and how to live alone. Why we should eliminate stress, why we should meditate, and why balance is so important.
EarthSky News: Watch for Earth’s shadow and the Belt of Venus
In both the evening and morning sky, try watching for Earth’s shadow, a blue-gray darkness in the direction opposite the sun, darker than the twilight sky.
Patheos-Pagan: Samhain Memory Altar
A long-standing Samhain tradition in our household is the yearly Memory Altar. I love building this special altar every October, bringing out photos and mementos of cherished family members who are no longer with us.

Inner Journey: CALM THE MIND
“All man’s miseries derive from not being able to sit quietly in a room alone.”
— Blaise Pascal
Meditation calms our minds and makes it easier for us to pay attention to the reality around and within us. Meditation breaks through the masks that have built up as our identity. It helps us see through our defences and connect with unacknowledged and unloved aspects of ourselves. It opens us to higher mind and the voice of intuition.
We can consciously choose meditation as a way to become more aware of who we truly are. If we don’t take the initiative to open to our authentic selves, we can be certain that deep challenge and pain from life experience will push us to awaken.
“Meditation helps me feel the shape, the texture of my inner life. Here, in the quiet, I can begin to taste what Buddhists would call my true nature, what Jews call the still, small voice, what Christians call the holy spirit.”
— Wayne Muller
“In a world filled with noise, we need to quiet ourselves to hear God’s voice.”
— Paul Borthwick
A Note from the Universe
You know how the wind, no matter how blustery, remains as silent as it is invisible, until it meets with leaves, and kites, and flags, and such?
Well it’s exactly the same with the manifesting forces that make dreams come true, until they meet with expectation.
And right this second, they’re whirling all around you, my little chiquita.
Happy everything –

“The first point of courtesy must always be truth.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)
I think the way I would change this quote just a little bit would be to write Truth with a capital “T.” Truth, meaning that we present ourselves honestly and openly. Truth, meaning that we recognize the people in our lives as valuable and precious. Truth, meaning that we don’t hide the light that shines within us, but that we share it with the world.
Daily Tarot: The Sun
Find a way to inject an artistic touch to whatever you’re doing and get extra satisfaction and have greater success at what you’re doing. You may not think of yourself as artistic, but it will be hard to hide or resist your creative side today. Even the most mundane and boring tasks can be made more pleasant by adding a dash of artistic expression. Within reason and appropriateness, let it shine.
