I’ve missed you.
How does life get so busy? The days—one after another—pile up like a stack of blurry Polaroids on my desk.
“There isn’t enough time,” we mutter, citing tiredness as our half-assed excuse.

But that’s a lie. And we know it.
There’s no time?

MNN: Huge numbers of frozen sea turtles are washing up in Cape Cod

An alarming new reality is washing up on the shores of Cape Cod.

The waters may be getting too cold, too fast, for sea turtles to handle. As a result, conservationists are seeing wave after wave of the endangered animals wash up on Massachusetts’ shores — apparently surprised by the sudden temperature shift.

EarthSky News: Moon and Regulus late night to dawn November 28 and 29

As darkness is giving way to dawn, notice the relationship between the moon, Regulus, and a very bright object in the direction of sunrise. Venus is the 3rd-brightest object in the sky after the sun and moon. If you’re up before dawn, you might also see the 1st-magnitude star Spica near Venus (which Venus outshines by well over a hundredfold).

Patheos-Pagan: A North American Perspective on Traditional Witchcraft

Numerous individuals are hearing the call of what has become known as traditional witchcraft. The primal practices, focus on the spirits of the land and one’s ancestral ties are providing centeredness in an all too modern world. With online covens and crystal cleansing apps, even the rustic practices of magick and neo-paganism are being transformed by modern innovations.

Inner Journey:

LIVING IN HARMONY

“Peace comes not from the absence of conflict, but from the ability to cope with it.”
— Unknown Source

Angeles Arrien says that life will be simple if we follow the four-fold way counselled by indigenous peoples:
1.Show up, being present with all four mental, emotional, physical and spiritual intelligences.
2.Pay attention to what has heart and meaning.
3.Tell the truth without blame or judgment.
4.Be open to outcome, not attached to outcome.

“Peace is not won by those who fiercely guard their differences, but by those who with open minds and hearts seek out connections.”
— Katherine Paterson

YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE. YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE.

This is the Universe, and I just wanted you to know, once and for all, that time is on your side, that space is just an illusion, and that matter is simply my little way of showing you exactly what you’ve been thinking lately.

Now that we’ve got that squared away, think yourself an amazing day, dearest.

At ease,

Time

“I grew up in a gentler, slower time. When Ike was president, Christmases were years apart, and now it’s about five months from one to the next.”

-Garrison Keillor

There is so much truth in this… I’ve been getting Christmas catalogs in the mail since August! Our society has gotten so retail oriented, so marketing savvy, that we’re always months ahead of ourselves. Whether it’s holiday sales, or movie previews, or upcoming specials, we’ve been trained to think ahead or be left behind. So we can’t really enjoy the moment we’re in because we’re too busy planning for the time that’s yet to come. How sad. But we can do something about it! Resolve to live in the now. Experience this moment of time fully. Now is the only time there is

Daily Good:

Thousand Mile Walk Home

After being sidelined by injury, professor Michael P. Branch vowed his year would be filled with 1000 miles walked. As he logged his miles, the emphasis became one of practice, like a monk’s meditations, and opened his eyes in a profound way: “[The miles] were all walked here, in the high desert, on public lands, within a ten-mile radius of my home. If my bioregionalist experiment of walking more than a thousand local miles each year has involved weed whackers and beer and skipping as well as pronghorn and golden eagles and the wordless beauty of moonlight gleaming on unbroken snowfields, that may be just as well. It is incremental work, but I have had a glimpse of how these walks might someday add up to a journey, in the same way that a life is comprised only of individual days, which are themselves nothing more than a series of moments in which we choose to take a small step, or do not.”

Patheos-Pagan: Traditional Witchcraft… The Beginnings of a Wood Witch

My path into traditional witchcraft wasn’t a straight shot by any means. It was an indication of my true direction, a slightly more crooked path. I started out young, thirteen, already wearing black, and by fifteen doing piercings. Traipsing to the library after school, right to the occult section, reading every book they had, I was simply driven!

Inner Journey:

BIG MIND, LITTLE MIND

“It is the mind that makes one wise or ignorant, bound or emancipated.”
— Sri Ramakrishna

Zen distinguishes big mind from small mind. Big mind identifies with its process, is impersonal and participates universally. Big mind is unlimited possibilities, deeper understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, insight, connectedness, attention.

Small mind is self centred and focuses only on itself. It is compulsive, limited, reactive and mechanical. Small mind feeds on itself — fear reacts to fear, judgment reacts to judgment, anger sparks more anger.

Always seek higher perspectives and you will in time find freedom.

“If a pickpocket meets a Holy Man, he will see only his pockets.”
— Hari Dass

“Minds are like parachutes; they work best when open.”
— Lord Thomas Dewar

Inspiration

“My affirmations or utterances come to me ready-made – not forethought – so that I occasionally awake in the night simply to let fall ripe a statement which I had never consciously considered before, and as surprising and novel and agreeable to me as anything can be. As if we only thought by sympathy with the universal mind, which thought while we were asleep. There is such a necessity [to] make a definite statement that our minds at length do it without our consciousness.”

-Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)

We are in spirit, and therefore inspired, all the time, even in our sleep. All we need to do is recognize this, and use what is available to us.
