We’re all looking for the perfect relationship, but is there such a thing? Relationships are hard and take both time and effort to maintain, especially if you and your partner have different values. Compatibility in love is everything when it comes to long-term relationships, so to make sure you don’t end up in a bad relationship, we bring you the …

MBG: A Crystal Ritual For People Who Don’t Believe In Crystal Rituals

I’ll admit it: Until pretty recently, I found the idea of using crystals as anything but jewelry or decorative bookends pretty ridiculous. How could little rocks possibly have any sort of magical powers—able to somehow pull you closer to the dream life that played on a projector in your head? The whole thing sounded very Disney Channel Original movie, and while I respected those who worked with crystals, I decided I was most definitely not one of them.

Daily Good: The Psychology of Self-Righteousness

“When it comes to moral judgments, we think we are scientists discovering the truth, but actually we are lawyers arguing for positions we arrived at by other means.” The surprising psychology behind morality is at the heart of social psychologist Jonathan Haidt’s research. He explains “liberal” and “conservative” not narrowly or necessarily as political affiliations, but as personality types ways of moving through the world. His self-described “conservative-hating, religion-hating, secular liberal instincts” have been challenged by his own studies. { read more }

EarthSky News: Harvest Moon 2018 coming up September 24-25

Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we call the full moon closest to the autumn equinox the Harvest Moon. Depending on your time zone, 2018’s autumn equinox for the Northern Hemisphere comes on September 22 or 23. And the September full moon comes on the night of September 24 for the Americas, and on September 25 for much of the rest of the world. Thus, for the Northern Hemisphere, this upcoming full moon – the full moon closest to our autumn equinox – is our Harvest Moon.

Patheos-Pagan: Seeking Silence, Seeking Power

Inner silence is about stopping the self-talk that, in the long run, keeps us stuck in who we are. This is both an extremely difficult thing to accomplish, and one that is basic to many deeper practices.

“Listening is a magnetic and strange thing, a creative force. You can see that when you think how the friends that really listen to us are the ones we move toward, and we want to sit in their radius as though it did usgood, like ultraviolet rays.”
— Brenda Ueland

How well do we communicate with others? Often, when we are interacting with others, our attention in both speaking and listening is focused on meeting our own needs.

Our communication skills improve when we can open to be aware of the needs of the other person. When we listen, we can release the filters that serve our own needs for security and receive the message with our compassionate heart. And when we speak, we can choose words that the listener is able to receive. True communication happens when we harmonize with the other individual.

“So when you are listening to somebody, completely, attentively, then you are listening not only to the words, but also to the feeling of what is being conveyed, to the whole of it, not part of it.”
— Jiddu Krishnamurti

“The first duty of love is to listen.”
— Paul Tillich

A Note from the Universe

The odd thing about inspiration is that it often comes after, not before, a new journey is started.

Daily Wisdom
September 24, 2018

“Intimate relationships cannot substitute for a life plan. But to have any meaning or viability at all, a life plan must include intimate relationships.”

-Harriet Lerner, Dance of Intimacy (1989)

The purpose of relationships, like just about anything in this life, is for us to learn more about ourselves and who we really are. That is why intimate relationships teach us so much. When we truly open ourselves up and express our feelings we feel closer to God. We become aware of our own vulnerability, and our own divinity.
