Natural Living Ideas: How To Make Air Cleansing Rosemary & Sage Smudge Sticks

Smudging is the practice of the burning of sacred herbs for spiritual cleansing and purification. It’s a ceremony that has been practiced by Native Americans for centuries.

A selection of herbs, usually white sage or cedar, is bundled with a cotton or hemp string. The bundle is then dried. Once the herbs have thoroughly dried, it’s lit and allowed to smoulder. The smoke is then fanned around an area for cleansing.

Elephant Journal: The Wild Woman Archetype.

Let the wild woman within you rise.
Let out her roar as you step into your true authentic self, revealing all of you, unapologetic to show up in all her glory.

Society puts us in boxes that are labeled with what is acceptable in today’s society and what is not. But what if you don’t want to be in that box? What if we want to be wild and carefree without the limitations of who we came here to be?

EarthSky News: October guide to the bright planets

Only 2 of the 5 bright planets are easy to see in October 2019, but 2 others might be possible. Jupiter and Saturn are easy from nightfall to late night. Mercury and Venus appear briefly in the afterglow of sunset. Mars lurks – unseen – in the glare of dawn.

Patheos-Pagan: Green Witchcraft: Using Magick With Teeth

Many people seem to believe that Green Witches do not have “teeth”. In other words, there are magickal practitioners who believe Green Witchcraft is all “love and light.” Why? Because we tend to be Herbalists. Healers. Hippies. Eco-Witches. Our focus leans toward nature, talking to trees, and caring for the planet.

Inner Journey:

SPEAK FOR YOURSELF

“An open ear is the only believable sign of an open heart.”
— David Augsburger

We can easily get into trouble in relationships when we assume that we know what someone else is thinking or feeling. Parents, in particular, can be quick to judge what’s going on in their children.

Rather than assuming we know someone else’s experience, we could shift our perceptions into questions. Instead of saying, ‘I know you’re hurting,’ we could ask, ‘Are you feeling hurt?’ This allows us to connect with the other with no risk of misunderstandings.

“It’s always wise to raise questions about the most obvious and simple assumptions.”
— C. West Churchman

“To assume is to be deceived.”
— Yiddish proverb

Community

“Perhaps no place in any community is so totally democratic as the town library. The only entrance requirement is interest.”

-Lady Bird Johnson

While computers may be filled with information, and even provide online interactions with people around the globe, there’s still no substitute for the local library. This is where we find knowledge, wisdom, comfort, and community. As much as things change, and become more high-tech, I hope that our books, and our libraries, will always be preserved. They offer a great service and easy accessibility for everyone. If you haven’t been in a while, you might want to visit the library, explore, and see what surprises you can find.

Daily Tarot: The Magician

It may be hard to be serious and stick to those dull but crucial tasks that keep the day running smoothly. Be systematic, cheerful, and don’t let it show if you feel undervalued or underappreciated. Save your sharp wit and cleverness for another time and place. Time spent with younger people or children can lift your spirits and keep things in perspective for you.
