Cat’s Morning Bits for July 3, 2018

Good Morning Beautiful Souls, grab a cup of your favorite morning brew and start things off with “Today’s Inspirations”. I hope you find something here that will make you feel good or help you on your path today.

Blessings, Cat

I hear the red fox barking
On the moonlit hill,
And bullfrogs by the river
Where the reeds stand still.

All the night has voices.
But sometimes, suddenly,
It grows so quiet I know the world
Is listening with me.

Tetraktys:he Element of Earth in Wicca – Balancing the Four Elements

This article is the fourth and final of the four elements series, this time about the element of earth in Wicca and in general. As with the other elements (fire, water and air), I’ll try to dive into the philosophy surrounding the idea of connecting with this element, as I believe that many Wiccans tend, sadly, to keep things a bit more superficial than they should be.

MBG: A High-Vibe Ritual To Help You Attract The Love You Deserve

If someone told you that they could bring love into your life in 40 days but that you’d have to follow their directions exactly for it to work, would you do it? It might sound like the plot of a romantic comedy, but that was the question that celebrity fashion stylist Sally Lyndley had to ask herself when she sought out my love advice.

Daily Good: Nature is Medicine — Even in a Prison Cell

Nalini Nadkarni, a biology professor at the University of Utah who has pioneered techniques for studying tree canopy communities in tropical and temperate forests, started “Moss-in-Prisons,” a project in which prisoners joined a research/conservation effort to counteract the destructive effects of collecting wild-grown moss from old-growth forests for the floral trade. “We learned that the inmates who viewed nature videos committed twenty-six percent fewer violent infractions than those who did not view them, a convincing result for the prison officers and administrators and for ourselves

Elephant Journal: What Emojis & Hashtags can never Replace.

When was the last time you went to the mailbox and got a letter?
Not a bill. Not junk mail. Not an advertisement that looks like it is a check. An actual letter. You remember letters, right? Handwritten notes on pretty stationery, maybe with some pictures doodled in the margins? It’s been a while, right?

MNN: First-aid tips for hiking with your dog

It’s summer and that means lots of people will be hitting the trails and embarking on long hikes. Many will even bring along their favorite four-legged friend. While dogs may enjoy running carefree through the woods and sniffing everything they come across, there are several things owners should do to make sure their dog has a safe and pleasant hike.

EarthSky News: Use Big Dipper to find North Star

Tonight, use the Big Dipper in the constellation Ursa Major the Great Bear to find the sky’s northern pole star, Polaris. This is the star around which the whole northern celestial sphere appears to turn throughout the night.

Patheos-Pagan: Jewelry as Protection

I was leaving for a rally the other day. Which one it was, doesn’t really matter. Won’t be my first, nor will it be my last in these turbulent times. As I was getting ready to leave, I went to my “accessory tray” (a family joke with my sons, as I am obsessive about everyone having one of these. Where you drop your jewelry, change, keys, etc.) I absent-mindedly began armoring up.

Inner Journey:

“Please… tell me who you are and what you want. And if you think those are simple questions, keep in mind that most people live their entire lives without arriving at an answer.”
— Gary Zukav

How deeply can you answer this question? Please realize that you are the only one who can answer it. No one else can tell you who you are. You must discover this for yourself. And the challenge of knowing ourselves is no easy task.

We hope this question excites rather than intimidates you. There’s so much more to you than you know at present! Isn’t this intriguing? Perhaps it’s time to go exploring.

“Mysterious and intimidating to contemplate, the human brain is the most complex thing there is and the most difficult task it can undertake is to understand itself.”
— David Noonan

“I don’t think God cares where we were graduated or what we did for a living. God wants to know who we are. Discovering this is the work of the soul – it is our true life’s work.”
— Bernie Siegel

A Note from the Universe

Okay! So, finally I think you’re ready to learn the real reason time and space was invented… dancing.

That and somersaults. You know, for when you were even younger.

And skipping. And humming. And playing make-believe…

Okay, okay, okay… the real, real reason … was you.

It’s true.

Just didn’t want to hit you with that in the first breath and have you spill something.

You make me even younger,

The Universe

“When thought is too weak to be simply expressed, it is a clear proof that it should be rejected.” -Luc de Clapiers Vauvenargues (1715-1747)

It’s not just our houses and our desks that are cluttered – often times our minds are cluttered, too! Let’s treat our thoughts, and our words carefully – let’s choose them as we would pick out produce in the market, discarding the ones that are stale or bruised and selecting instead ones that are fresh and fragrant and full of life. And let’s just take what we need for now, we can always go back for more. One thing at a time!
