Origins of Alexandrian Wicca:
Formed by Alex Sanders and his wife Maxine, Alexandrian Wicca is very similar to the Gardnerian tradition. Although Sanders claimed to have been initiated into witchcraft in the early 1930s, he was also a member of a Gardnerian coven before breaking off to start his own tradition in the 1960s.

MBG: 6 Essential Oils That Can Soothe Bug Bites & How To Use Them

An unfortunate side effect of summertime outings, bug bites can be a real drag. Daily Good:  The Earth Treasure Vase Healing Project

The least movement is of importance to all nature. The entire ocean is affected by a pebble.

– Blaise Pascal –

The Earth Treasure Vase Healing Project

“In 1990, I had the opportunity to meet a 106-year-old Buddhist Lama living in a cave in a remote part of Nepal. As I was walking up the highest mountains in the world, I realized that I had a chance to actually ask a question of the old wise man in the cave. As I was walking, I contemplated what I should ask him that would be of benefit, not just for me, but for all of us because most people dont have the opportunity to ask a question of a 106-year-old Lama in a cave. I thought about it really deeply and what came to me was, what can we do to bring healing and protection to the Earth?” Cynthia Jurs, Founder of the Gaia Mandala Global Healing Community, shares more in this interview. { read more }

Patheos-Pagan: The Summer is for Pagans

Pagans seem overly fond of Autumn and Spring. Ask the average Witch what their favorite sabbat is and you’ll most often hear “Samhain.”* Your local eclectic Pagan group is likely to have higher attendance at Beltane, Yule, and Samhain than at Midsummer and Lammas combined.

Inner Journey:

“Emotions are the next frontier to be understood and conquered. To manage our emotions is not to drug them or suppress them, but to understand them so that we can intelligently direct our emotional energies and intentions…. It’s time for human beings to grow up emotionally, to mature into emotionally managed and responsible citizens. No magic pill will do it.”
— Doc Childre

Many of us believe that we need to keep a tight lid on our emotions. We fear that if we ever allow these emotions to be expressed, they will do serious damage.

But if we summon up the courage to truly feel our emotions, we discover that they don’t last. The monster in the closet turns out to be a pussycat. In fact, if we are willing to experience our emotions completely, without resistance of any kind, they burn themselves out in only a few minutes.

The only thing that keeps emotions alive within you over long periods is your unwillingness to acknowledge them.

“By starving emotions we become humorless, rigid and stereotyped; by repressing them we become literal, reformatory and holier-than-thou; encouraged, they perfume life; discouraged, they poison it.”
— Joseph Collins

Daily Wisdom

“Whatever we do to any other thing in the great web of life, we do to ourselves, for we are one.”

-Brooke Medicine Eagle, 1991
The great web of life – this amazing connection that binds us together. These days when we hear “web” we think of the worldwide web. And this is a great analogy for how we can really move beyond space and time to experience our connection with one another. I had a service question recently, and ended up speaking with a technician in India! We had a great conversation. He solved my problem and I showed him my website. Although Ayurveda is somewhat new to us here in the west, it’s a part of everyday life in India, and he was pleased that we are finally “getting” it!

Daily Tarot:  Temperance

See through a false impression or some illusion that has been projected to throw you off course or to misjudge someone. Done innocently or deliberately, you can dispel that false impression and work your way right through it. You could even do this without challenging or confronting anyone directly, thus saving yourself the trauma of a showdown. Go slow when making any decisions that affect others.
