There he stands in the foul weather,
The foolish, fond Old Year.
-Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1807-82)
The Wild Hunt: New archaeological finds in UK shed light on Pagan past
WALES – After a summer in which the drought brought to light a number of interesting archaeological finds in the UK and Ireland, the rest of 2018 has proved almost equally fruitful, with two major discoveries shedding light on our Celtic ancestors and their way of life. One of these finds is large, the other
MBG: How To Improve Your Mornings In 2019 If You’re Constantly Stressed Out
Our body’s flight-or-fight response to stress is super handy in certain situations—other times, you just want to live your life without having anxious feelings creep up on you.
Anxiety is something everyone faces from time to time, and while we can’t control how our bodies respond (thanks, evolution), there are a few things we can do to convince our brain that everything’s gonna be alright.
Daily Good: Finding Hope in Hopelessness
In a time of uncertainty and increasing grief, suffering, aggression and violence, Margaret Wheatley proposes we release our hope of an outcome, walk without a vision of the future, and let hopelessness be our companion. In our insecurity, self-doubt, and groundlessness, we can orient our soul, spirit, and heart to transcend the experienced world and anchor ourselves in faith. The value, rightness, and truth of our work with other people will allow us to persevere. We can hold grief and love in the same heart and be consoled and strengthened by those with us on the journey. Hopelessness liberates us from fear, from results, and from outcomes so we can do what feels right with clarity and energy
Elephant Journal: I Dare You to Be Your Own F*cking Idol.
As 2018 began to end, I sat down and stared at my bucket list.
I realized that I had ticked almost everything off for this year.
Everything but one word was left uncrossed and staring back at me:
MNN: Ancient Irish ‘healing soil,’ once used by Druids, really works
The medicinal soil has been found to contain powerful antibiotics.
Folk remedies aren’t always taken seriously by scientists, but occasionally age-old wisdom can surprise. Case in point: researchers looking at ancient Irish “healing soil,” long believed to have remarkable medicinal properties, have discovered a previously unknown strain of bacteria that produces antibiotics capable of killing four of the world’s deadliest superbugs, reports Phys.org.
EarthSky News: Moon and Spica on December 29 and 30

Patheos-Pagan: Favorite Witchy Books of 2018
I read a lot of books on the topics of magick, paganism, occultism, witchcraft, and spirituality. Out of all the books I read, I review about a quarter of them. I review the ones that I like the most and think will benefit other seekers as well as seasoned practitioners. 2018 had a lot of great books released and I decided to make a list sharing my top 10 favorite books of the year.
ARE YOU AFRAID TO BE DIFFERENT?
On the path of evolution, we move from being a willing and obedient member of the group to wanting to take control over our own lives. This is a necessary but difficult transition.
Andrew Schneider says, “At this point we are afraid of being ourselves. We are afraid of being unique and different. We are afraid of being individually powerful, and even successful. For all of these things stand against the old ways that told us that conformity was right and individualism was wrong.”
“For as long as we possibly can, we make a compromise. We try to live both lives – the dependent tribal life and the independent personal life – as contradictory and opposite as they are.
“We want approval from others. We want to be accepted and popular. We seek this comfort to overcome our fear and feel more secure. …So, at times when we conform, we don’t feel the fear of living. But we might lose the new sense of adventure, discovery, daring and enthusiasm for life that the questioning and questing have brought us.”
“Nature never repeats herself, and the possibilities of one human soul will never be found in another.”
— Elizabeth Cady Stanton

A creamy broccoli soup is nutritious and very filling when the weather turns cold.
We all know what it feels like to want something we don’t have. It may be a pair of expensive jeans, a romantic partner, or rent money; it may be a certain attitude, a car, or a savings account. This is part of life, and in the best-case scenario, we…

“Life is the first gift, love is the second, and understanding the third.”
We accept the first gift just by being born. We learn more of the second gift all throughout our life, and we give and receive love. The third gift seems to be more of a challenge for us to accept. We tend to want to impose our interpretations, our judgements on circumstances and behaviors rather than seeking to understand. It takes a certain spiritual maturity to really let go embrace this blessing. We have this capacity- let’s unwrap this gift!
