All living things have an aura, or unseen energy field, surrounding them. And though they can’t be seen by the naked eye, auras radiate certain colors or a combination of colors depending on your mood and vibration. (You can have an aura portrait taken, or take an aura quiz if you’re curious about yours.) We’ve already dug into purple, blue, and yellow, and now, we’re looking at green. Hermit crabs reside full-time in discarded seashells, bouncing from one to another as they outgrow their found abodes. When the hermit crab leaves its shell due to its noticeable growth, it is exceptionally vulnerable. The longer the crab without a shell, the more opportunity for it to be harmed in its vulnerable state.

Treehugger: 9 Companion Herbs to Help Repel Insects

One thing nobody wants to see in the garden is their beautiful plants being devoured by pests. I mean, the little guys just want to eat too. But, no. The awfulness (and agricultural cost) of seeing our food eaten by insects has given rise to a vast pesticide industry, which in turn is its own environmental nightmare. So what’s a home gardener to do?

EarthSky News: Hazy light pyramid in east? False dawn

For the Northern Hemisphere, late summer/early autumn presents the best time of the year to catch the zodiacal light, or “false dawn.” And the next few days are great, because the moon will be in a waning crescent. There might be some great photo opportunities with a waning crescent moon, the dazzling planet Venus and the zodiacal light, since all will be located in the east before dawn breaks.

Introduction
Contemporary Paganism is deeply rooted in a European past. For all of us who have some European heritage, those ancestors were pagan before the introduction of Christianity. Although modern Pagans draw on many non-European sources including the ancient beliefs and practices from Egyptian, Roman and Greek, Asian, Native American and African cultures, the native religions of pre-Christian Europe are our own heritage

Inner Journey: NO JUDGMENT

Everything in life holds both a blessing and a curse. We deny this when we label the events of our lives as either good or bad. The following old Zen story illustrates this lesson most effectively.

A farmer had a horse but one day, the horse ran away and so the farmer and his son had to plow their fields themselves. Their neighbors said, “Oh, what bad luck that your horse ran away!” But the farmer replied, “Bad luck, good luck, who knows?”

The next week, the horse returned to the farm, bringing a herd of wild horses with him. “What wonderful luck!” cried the neighbors, but the farmer responded, “Good luck, bad luck, who knows?”

Then, the farmer’s son was thrown as he tried to ride one of the wild horses, and he broke his leg. “Ah, such bad luck,” sympathized the neighbors. Once again, the farmer responded, “Bad luck, good luck, who knows?”

A short time later, the ruler of the country recruited all young men to join his army for battle. The son, with his broken leg, was left at home. “What good luck that your son was not forced into battle!” celebrated the neighbors. And the farmer remarked, “Good luck, bad luck, who knows?”

“Do not judge, and you will never be mistaken.”

A Note from the Universe

Hey! I’ve been looking over all my old photos, and yes, you guessed it, you look absolutely smashing. But honestly, if you don’t mind me saying so, you’re never as beautiful in a photograph—mine or anyone else’s—as you are in person. Not even close.

The odd quiver of your lip, the sparkle in your eye, and the hidden question mark, sometimes, when you smile. The confidence behind your laughter, the concern behind your tears, and the unpredictability of your wit. The reassurance of your glance, the easiness of your presence, and the “junk in your trunk.” I wouldn’t change one single thing. But you guessed that, too, huh?

Isn’t it strange, though, how some still expect to see all that when looking at a photo of themselves, or just staring, motionless, into a mirror?

If you could just see what I see

Inner Journey:

FILL UP YOUR TANK

“How do we keep our inner fire alive? Two things, at minimum, are needed: an ability to appreciate the positives in our life – and a commitment to action. Every day, it’s important to ask and answer these questions: ‘What’s good in my life?’ and ‘What needs to be done?'”
–NathanielBranden

I have found there’s a very different quality to my action when it springs from a sense of abundance as opposed to a feeling of being impoverished.

When I sense I’m not good enough or that I don’t have enough, I feel driven to be better and to have more. Whatever I do takes effort – there’s an element of struggle involved. And this makes sense because there’s no fuel – I’m working on an empty tank.

When I’m feeling abundant, I act out of my own inspiration. I’m rich and full and so the energy flows naturally. This action at times feels almost effortless.

It’s important to remember that we don’t need money to be abundant. All we need is appreciation of all that we have.

” …what I focus on in life is what I get. And if I concentrate on how bad I am or how wrong I am or how inadequate I am, if I concentrate on what I can’t do and how there’s not enough time in which to do it, isn’t that what I get every time? And when I think about how powerful I am, and when I think about what I have left to contribute, and when I think about the difference I can make on this planet, then that’s what I get. You see, I recognize that it’s not what happens to you; it’s what you do about it.”

Meaning
“Life is not meaningful… unless it is serving an end beyond itself; unless if is of value to someone else.”

-Abraham Joshua Heschel (1907-1972)
How many times have we heard the phrase: “There’s more to life than…”? We KNOW there is more to life, more than pettiness, or selfishness, or indulgence, or whatever! We find value in life when we reach out and go beyond our comfort zone – when we help others, when we see how our work resonates out into the world. Life is full of opportunities for us to find meaning, and to create meaning.
