Spirit Library: Trust in Yourself (a message from Kate Spreckley)
We must remember that the universe always works in perfect balance. When we place ourselves in its natural flow we move into a space of balance. However, before that occurs all that is out of balance within ourselves needs to be addressed. Circumstances in our lives are highlighting any imbalance creating a profound clearing and purging of the old.

Ask anyone who has loved a horse and they’ll likely agree: The bond between humans and horses rivals that of people and dogs. As Herman Melville once said, “No philosophers so thoroughly comprehend us as dogs and horses.”

EarthSky News: Bright star Deneb transits at nightfall
Each year – around October 24 – the northernmost star of the Summer Triangle, Deneb, transits or climbs to its highest point in the sky at or near 6:30 p.m. local time (7:30 p.m. local daylight saving time). What does that mean for skywatchers? Only that this noteworthy star – this beloved member of the Summer Triangle – is shifting ever-westward each day in our sky as Earth travels around the sun. Its transit at dusk/nightfall is a hallmark of the year, marking a shift toward winter – or summer – on your half of the globe.

Inner Journey: WHAT ARE YOU FEELING?
“We know too much and feel too little. At least, we feel too little of those creative emotions from which a good life springs.”
— Bertrand Russell
Many of the qualities that bring fulfilment in life are feelings, like love, joy, freedom and gratitude.
In our overly rational world, we tend to think about how we feel, which, of course, is not feeling at all — it’s thinking.
Honour your feelings and be willing to experience them. They give us valuable feedback about what is and what is not working in our lives. They are the signposts to meaningful inner work.
“With just a little education and practice on how to manage your emotions, you can move into a new experience of life so rewarding that you will be motivated to keep on managing your emotional nature in order to sustain it. The payoff is delicious in terms of improved quality of life.”
— Doc Childre

Films
“Good movies make you care, make you believe in possibilities again.”
-Pauline Kael, 1968
Some movies are so big, so fabulous, so rich with story and action and setting and wardrobe. “Gone With the Wind” is like that. Wow. It’s absolutely breathtaking, and a true classic. And some movies are smaller, just a more personal story, that doesn’t need much more than the people involved to get the point across. “Rain Man” is that kind of a movie. In the film, Tom Cruise’s character discovers that he has an autistic brother, played by Dustin Hoffman. The journey, how these two get to know each other, and get to understand themselves, and what is important in life, is just beautiful. It strikes a chord because we all have relationships in our lives from which we can learn about ourselves and our connection to the world.

Daily Tarot: The Pope
Today can be easy if you don’t try to swim upstream. Do what’s expected of you (and what you need to do, anyway) and don’t rebel, at least not outwardly. You’re given plenty of authority to convince people to help you if necessary, and there should be few if any arguments. Be calm, respect authority, and you’ll automatically be given the respect you deserve, plus more. Get a lot done!
