1. The need or desire to break away from unpleasant people or circumstances in the dreamer’s life.
2. If, in the dream, the dreamer cannot escape, she might have to fight her way through difficulties.

Inner Journey:

TAKE A BREAK!

“A good rest is half the work.”
— Yugoslav Proverb

Strong work ethic? You can still justify taking a break. In fact, we NEED to take breaks — regularly and frequently. Why? WE WORK MORE EFFECTIVELY WHEN WE DON’T WORK SO MUCH.

Rest periods and vacations break our work routines. They help SHIFT OUR THINKING from its habitual, stuck patterns. They create the SPACE FOR ENERGY AND CREATIVITY to flow. They give us TIME FOR REFLECTION, so we can step back and look at what’s happening in our lives with greater detachment. We become more sensitive and aware.

And finally, we are stronger when we BALANCE DOING with BEING. All work and no play throws our life out of balance and endangers our health. Our bodies and minds need sufficient rest for recuperation. This is critically important with the level of stress in our lives these days.

“The time to relax is when you don’t have time for it.”
— SidneyJ. Harris

“I still need more healthy rest in order to work at my best. My health is the main capital I have and I want to administer it intelligently.”
— Ernest Hemingway

A Note from the Universe
One sign of achieving enlightenment other than auras, tinkling bells, and a healing touch, is that you start valuing idle daydreaming as much as you value planning.

Another is that you begin talking sweetly, not only to plants and trees, but to cars and toasters and computers.

And, quite unequivocally, feeling gratitude for your present challenges, love for lousy drivers, and sympathy for those who don’t see service in their work.

Serving 7 billion,

The Universe

Value
“A thing is worth precisely what it can do for you; not what you choose to pay for it.”

-John Ruskin (1819-1900)

If we take the example of a car – a car is not just transportation. If it were, we’d all be driving very fuel-efficient, non-descript vehicles. A car has become a symbol – of our wealth, our style, our priorities. A Mercedes costs more money not just because it is more expensive to produce, but because people are willing to pay more for the prestige associated with the name. So, the car is providing necessary transportation, but also the “image” that the driver wants to project. Is the image worth the price? It’s just a matter of personal preference. We have choices, in cars and in everything.

Today’s Deity: Corn Gods & Goddesses

First grown in Mexico about 5,000 years ago, corn soon became the most important food crop in Central and North America. Throughout the region, Native Americans, Maya, Aztecs, and other Indians worshiped corn gods and developed a variety of myths about the origin, planting, growing, and harvesting of corn (also known as maize).

Corn Gods and Goddesses. The majority of corn deities are female and associated with fertility. They include the Cherokee goddess Selu; Yellow Woman and the Corn Mother goddess Iyatiku of the Keresan people of the American Southwest; and Chicomecoatl, the goddess of maize who was worshiped by the Aztecs of Mexico. The Maya believed that humans had been fashioned out of corn, and they based their calendar on the planting of the cornfield

Do your best, be forgiving of yourself about any minor slip-ups, and have no regrets. You know what you’re already good at, so focus on that and glide through the day.

Inner Journey:

FORGIVENESS BRINGS JOY

“The greatest evil that can befall man is that he should come to think ill of himself.”
— Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

Do you feel worthy of having joy? Do you feel you deserve it?

The first step to activating our inner joy is to eliminate the blocks to it. We can start by truly forgiving ourselves and all others. Forgiveness calls for a shift in our perception. It is easier to forgive ourselves and others when we really understand that each of us has always done the very best we knew to do at that time.

“If we don’t forgive ourselves for our mistakes, and others for the wounds they have inflicted upon us, we end up crippled with guilt. And the soul cannot grow under a blanket of guilt, because guilt is isolating, while growth is a gradual process of reconnection to ourselves, to other people, and to a larger whole.”
— Joan Borysenko

Body

“The body is wiser than its inhabitants. The body is the soul. We ignore its aches, its pains, its eruptions, because we fear the truth. The body is God’s messenger.”

-Erica Jong, Fear of Fifty, 1994

The body definitely gives us signals, but do we pay attention? We should! Look at all we can learn from the body! It tells us when we’re tired, under stress, hungry, nervous. We may try to fight it, or ignore it, thinking we know better – but there is an innate intelligence at work in our cells that we can benefit from. This “gut instinct” that we get, that’s Spirit talking right to us. Listen up!
