To forgive, we need to decide that we won’t allow the memories of the event to poison us any longer. We’re ready to heal this wound from the past and open to a fresh new beginning.

There, in an open field, one of them scooped a handful of earth, and said: “This is where we will begin.” And God’s voice was heard from above and He said: “Use your own dirt!”

This is a cute joke, and it calls our attention to the fact that we are creative beings, and that creativity comes from the Source of All things.

DON’T AVOID THE VOID

To change, we must go through a transition zone. It’s not easy being in transition. Thoughts, beliefs and habits are all in flux. It can create a sense of groundlessness, of being in a void that can be quite uncomfortable.

When we’re in the void, our first impulse will be to revert to old habits because they feel comfortable. Our goal is to hang in there until the change is complete. Continue regular spiritual practices. This includes prayer, meditation, reading spiritual works, serving others, and giving of our time and talents.
Encourage others to spend time pursuing their own spiritual practices. This may mean babysitting some youngsters so their mother can spend some time in silence, or sending enlightening e-mails on to friends!
