Every now and again you’ll hear someone say: It doesn’t matter, reality is just an illusion anyway. Those people are wrong  though it’s not that reality isn’t an illusion. It is an illusion. But this illusion matters. Everything Is Energy On the smallest level, everything is just energy.

MBG: How To Know If Your Essential Oils Have Expired (In 5 Seconds Or Less)

Essential oils are packed with some pretty amazing healing benefits—but alas, nothing lasts forever.

Just like the oils we cook with, essential oils do eventually “go bad.” While an expired oil won’t be dangerous to use per se, it will lose its potency and become just another good smell—or a not-so-great one.

Tetraktys: How to Connect with Nature – A Short Guide on Spirituality, Nature and Awareness

Nowadays, most people are aware that the natural world is more than the sum of its components. Nature embodies the sacred, the untouched creation and the “perfect” world that would be if mankind didn’t exist. Although a very non-humanistic view, it has become somewhat widespread in the modern world as people are feeling more and more that humanity is distancing itself from nature. Fortunately, it’s not always the case.

Patheos-Pagan: The Truth About Hereditary Witches

The other day, I saw someone’s twitter handle. ‘Fourth generation hereditary witch.’ Bullcrap, I thought.

We’d all like to think we’re special, and to some degree, we are. I never believe in lying about anything, but there are so many hereditary witches these days who have such high degrees and long lineages.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES

“The burden is equal to the horse’s strength.”
— The Talmud

What are your strengths? What are your weaknesses?

If you make a list of the two and study them, you may discover they match.

Life needs us to bring our strengths to the world. To encourage us to do so, we have weaknesses that give rise to problems that require us to call on our strengths to solve them. Ingenious, don’t you think?

“Our weaknesses are divine gifts that when embraced will enable us to make our purposeful contribution to the whole, which is why we incarnated in the first place.”
— Andrew Schneider

“We acquire the strength we have overcome.”

Relationships

“The long-term accommodation that protects marriage and other such relationships is… forgetfulness.”

-Alice Walker, You Can’t Keep a Good Woman Down (1981)

“Forgetfulness” goes beyond forgiveness. First you forgive, then you forget. This is present-moment awareness in action! The past is history – it’s gone, and it can certainly be forgotten. As we grow and change, as our relationships grow and change, forgetfulness can be a welcome accommodation!

Tetraktys: Pagan Beliefs and Practices – How to Be a Pagan in the 21st century

Although some have professed the death of all religions in the 21st century, the truth is that the world is becoming more and more religious and religiously diverse these days. As a matter of fact, I stumbled upon this article a few days ago. According to the Pew Research Center, if the actual trend continues, by 2050, Christianity, Islam and Hinduism will add many hundreds of millions of believers to their ranks, if we postulate that children will follow their parents’ religion, that is.

Inner Journey:

BE, DO AND HAVE

“Often people attempt to live their lives backwards: they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want so they will be happier. The way it actually works is the reverse. You must first be who you really are, then do what you love to do, in order to have what you want.”
— Margaret Young

The formula for success is Be, Do, Have. If we seek abundance, we must be abundant in spirit. We can begin to cultivate spiritual wealth by opening our hearts in gratitude.

Start a gratitude journal today. Each evening, write down at least 5 things for which you are grateful. This simple tool will help you open your eyes to the abundance of your world right now.

“Who does not thank for little will not thank for much.”

A Note from the Universe

Did you know that whenever you say, “I think I’m onto something HUGE, I’m so excited, I love my life, I have total clarity…” it’s like hitting an “ON” button that throws countless supernatural, invisible mechanisms into action that gradually begin physically rearranging the props and events of your life so that they’ll soon yield something HUGE, generate excitement, inspire love, and provide clarity?

And that whenever you say, “I don’t know what to do, it’s all so hard, I hate my life, I don’t ever want to return to time and space…” it’s like hitting an “OFF” button.

Of course you did,

Soul

“The growth of the soul may be compared to the growth of a plant. In both cases, no new properties are imparted by the operation of external causes, but only the inward tendencies are called into action and clothed with strength.”

-George Ripley (1802-1880)

Oftentimes when we talk about spiritual growth we compare it with the growth of a plant – planting the seed, allowing it space and time to grow with its own innate intelligence. We use this example because we understand how the growth of a plant “works.” We’ve seen seedlings sprout, we’ve had potatoes take root in glasses of water in our fifth grade science classes. And we need this kind of illustration because spiritual growth is not something we necessarily “see.” It is an internal phenomenon, something we feel, something we experience, something that goes beyond words or pictures.

Elder Spirits Surviving the Centuries

In traditional witchcraft we seek to emulate the rituals and wisdom of Witches who came before us. History has not been kind to followers of the Old Ways, and that is reflected by the form currently taken by the patron of our Arte. I think the idea of a single-unbroken chain of wisdom or tradition of practice that has been passed on throughout the ages is an idea that we as modern practitioners can finally put to bed

LIFE AS A MIRROR

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”
— C.G. Jung

We get clues about our unconscious programming if we watch our reactions, responses, feelings and thoughts about other people and events. Ask yourself: How do I judge or stereotype people? What pushes my buttons? What makes me angry or fearful or sad?

The outer incidents that trigger these reactions in me simply MIRROR my own nature. If I didn’t have beliefs around the issues that upset me, where would my reactions come from? If I didn’t have some internal reference, I wouldn’t react at all.

When outer events spark a reaction, we need to look inside to explore what’s going on.

“We discover in ourselves what others hide from us and we recognize in others what we hide from ourselves.”

Love

“Someday, after we have mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness… the energies of love. Then, for the second time in the history of the world, we will have discovered fire.”  -Pierre Tielhard de Chardin

Is there anything more powerful than love? Love is creative; with love we can accomplish anything. With love we have accomplished everything! Love is the great up-lifter, the strongest force there is. Love heals. Love grows. Love is the basis for life itself. Love is invisible, and yet ever-present. Love is the most valuable gift we will ever give or receive, and yet love is perfectly free.
