How Love burns through the Putting in the Seed
On through the watching for that early birth
When, just as the soil tarnishes with weed,
The sturdy seedling with arched body comes
Shouldering its way and shedding the earth crumbs.
-Robert Frost (1874-1963)

Living Life Fully: Daily Meditation
Sanctuary–what a nice word that is. A sanctuary is a place where we can rest, where we can escape the stress and strife of the world in which we live, where we can feel at ease and breathe deeply and relax. And what Herman Hesse is saying is that we all have such a place within ourselves, accessible when we need it, wherever we happen to be, whatever we happen to be doing.

Patheos-Pagan: The Joy of Magical Friendships

“If we want to be compassionate we must be conscious of the words we use. We must both speak and listen from the heart.”
— Marshall B. Rosenberg
Conscious communication requires us to be truly present to what is occurring. When we are unconscious, we both speak to and react to others out of habit. And in the face of what we perceive as someone’s judgment and criticism, we automatically (and unconsciously)defend, withdraw or attack.
To communicate consciously requires attention to two areas:
1.I need to speak from awareness of what I am perceiving, feeling and needing, and
2.Through watching and listening, I need to be aware of those same needs in others.
“When we focus on clarifying what is being observed, felt, and needed rather than on diagnosing and judging, we discover the depth of our own compassion.”
— Marshall B. Rosenberg

Today’s Recipe: 12 Brussels Sprout Salad Recipes That Make Lettuce Look Really Boring
If we’re considering crunch, lettuce can’t compete with Brussels sprouts. Slicing or shaving raw sprouts keeps them firm enough to stand up to dressings for days in the fridge. Lettuce can’t claim that. Plus, roasted sprouts taste delicious in salads, too, hot or cold.

“The winds and the waves are always on the side of the ablest navigators.”
-Edward Gibbon (1737-1794)
We are blessed with so much ability. And we can choose to better ourselves and our skills all the time. We might struggle as we learn new things, but as we develop our abilities, these things become easier for us. Have you ever noticed how people who are the best at what they do make even the most difficult of tasks look easy? Olympian ice skaters were not born knowing how to do a “triple toe loop” or some of those fancy moves! But through dedication and perseverance, they are able to master the ice and gravity that plunked them down so many times before.
Daily Tarot: The Hermit
It might be a busy day, but try to make some time for yourself. Any time you spend meditating or settling your mind will be time well spent. It doesn’t have to be spent sitting around and being idle all day. Staring pensively into that cup of tea for a few moments can be equally beneficial. Calm your mind, and your heart, and make it an at-peace day.
