The Old Farmer’s Almanac calls this moon the Sturgeon Moon because the Native people of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain knew this was the best time to catch these big fish. The lake sturgeon is the largest fish in North America and were at one time abundant in the lakes and rivers. I have also seen it called the Barley Moon or Corn Moon as this moon is also associated with grain and the rebirth we celebrated at Lughbasadh.
Other names for this moon are Dog’s Day Moon (Colonial American), Harvest Moon (China), Fruit Moon (Cherokee), Women’s Moon (Choctaw), Moon When All Things Ripen (Dakota), Dispute Moon (Celtic), Lightning Moon (Pagan).
Carry the harvest theme over into your magickal workings for the day. What can you sacrifice (harvest) today that will help you in the future. Make a list of the things that you are ready to sacrifice in this cycle. Spiritual and physical health are also good areas to work on at this time.

____________________________ Spirit Library: Something New Is Forming (a message from Kate Spreckley)
In the second half of 2020 humanity’s process of evolutionary growth is accelerating at a much greater pace. The intense energy we have experienced over the last few months is radically quickening our processes and creating deep and lasting change.
The Wicker Man is a giant effigy allegedly used by the Druids to perform human sacrifice, according to the writings of Julius Caesar. He mentions it as one method in which the Celts performed rituals, but other than Caesar’s observations there is little scholarly corroboration. In recent years, some of Caesar’s accounts have been disputed by modern academics.

Uncertainty is in the air as the last full month of summer arrives. Will we or won’t we…go back to work, send kids to school, keep the business open, spend holidays with the family? Our ability to plan, which is crucial to success in modern life, has been seriously hindered.

Elephant Journal: 3 Things our Rising Signs reveal about our Souls.
What the heck is my rising sign?
A lot of people newer to astrology are not completely familiar with a rising sign and even some of the more “well-seasoned” astrology nerds (yes, I am an astrology nerd) are still not entirely aware of just how much our rising sign can affect the whole of our natal charts (or “life map” as I like to refer to it).
Lemurs are easy to love. They’re cute, charismatic, and oddly humanlike, which isn’t just a coincidence. Lemurs are primates like us, and while they’re not as closely related to people as chimpanzees and other apes are, they’re still family.
EarthSky News: Full Sturgeon Moon on August 2 and 3
On August 2 and 3, 2020, everyone around the world (except far-northern Arctic latitudes) will see a full-looking moon lighting up the nighttime from dusk until dawn. Watch the moon follow the planets Jupiter and Saturn westward across the sky throughout the night.

Inner Journey:
TRANSFORMATION
“The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.”
— William Faulkner
Longing for a miracle that will transform your life? Miracles happen, and if we don’t want that magic to disappear on us, we need to learn from each epiphany — to integrate it, apply it, and build on it so we can permanently shift to a new level of being.
The real key to fulfillment lies in ONGOING transformation: building our awareness of daily opportunities to change our perceptions and raise our consciousness. Life is about dissolving the old and creating anew. The more we open to accepting and learning from every life experience, the more our lives transform.
“Enlightenment must come little by little — otherwise it would overwhelm.”
— Idries Shah

Daily Wisdom August 3, 2020
Interdependence
“One life stamps and influences another, which in turn stamps and influences another, on and on, until the soul of human experience breathes on in generations we’ll never even meet.”
-Mary Kay Blakely, 1989
Yes, we are independent, as people and as a nation, and at the same time we are interdependent. We rely on each other. We support and sustain one another. Each person, independently, makes contributions that have far-reaching effects. It’s the pebble in the pond example, where the ripples are felt for a long time after the stone has landed
Possibly a romantically disquieting day, you may begin to suspect that your love is not being returned, at least not in kind. Or perhaps you can’t bring yourself to return the affections of an ardent admirer. This might feel even worse. The head and heart don’t always speak the same language or have the same opinions. Be strong and as kind as you can.

The energy of the August moon is going to cause a bit of a shakeup due to Uranus squaring up with the Sun. This can make us feel a bit wobbly. This energy will help us in a gentle fashion to let go of things that are no longer in our best interest it will provide clarity and help us to find the answers we need. This overall energy will continue to build toward the “Lions Gate” on August 8th which will be a time of supercharged energy.
