ThoughtCo: Threshold Blessing
How to Bless the Entrance to Your Home

If you’ve moved into a new home, it’s not a bad idea to do a magical or spiritual cleansing of the place before you get truly settled in. In addition to ritually purifying the interior of the home, many people like to do a threshold blessing, which creates a symbolic doorway to the home. You can use this blessing ritual to keep negative energy out, while allowing for positive energy to enter.

EarthSky News: Look for the beautiful Northern Crown

Tonight, look for a constellation that’s easy to see on the sky’s dome, if your sky is dark enough. Corona Borealis – aka the Northern Crown – is exciting to find. It’s an almost-perfect semi-circle of stars. You’ll find this beautiful pattern in the evening sky from now until October.

Patheos-Pagan: Seeking the Magick of Enough in the Too Much: Calling on Allies

I am grateful for the magick of moments. Ordinary and necessary.
I was sitting at my desk the other day, trying and failing to avoid the news, and I looked out the window. The winds were blowing, fresh green leaves swaying and bouncing against each other.
And in that moment, I noticed my lungs move in time with the breeze. Like the world was breathing with me. Like the world was trying to find its center too

Inner Journey:

BELIEVE IN MAGIC!

“…for magic to happen in your life, you must believe in magic.”
— Grandmother, quoted by Lynn Andrews

“Most of the time, we fall in love but can’t remain there. The world then calls the state we were in a delusion or infatuation … But we merely lacked, or someone else lacked, the emotional skills to hold on to the magic when the morning came. …In truth, we can go to the moon and retain its magic for a lifetime.”
— Marianne Williamson

“We think, sometimes, there’s not a dragon left. Not one brave knight, not a single princess gliding through secret forests … What a pleasure to be wrong. Princesses, knights, enchantments and dragons, mystery and adventure … not only are they here-and-now, they’re all that ever lived on earth! Masters of reality still meet us in dreams to tell us that we’ve never lost the shield we need against dragons, that blue-fire voltage arcs through us now to change our world as we wish. Intuition whispers true: We’re not dust, we’re magic!”
— Richard Bach

Today’s Deity: Ishtar

Ishtar, (Akkadian), Sumerian Inanna, in Mesopotamian religion, goddess of war and sexual love. Ishtar is the Akkadian counterpart of the West Semitic goddess Astarte. Inanna, an important goddess in the Sumerian pantheon, came to be identified with Ishtar, but it is uncertain whether Inanna is also of Semitic origin or whether, as is more likely, her similarity to Ishtar caused the two to be identified.

We recently talked about the effect of Pluto, Saturn and the South Node being together in the skies this year. Everybody falls victim to a misjudgment or a faulty calculation sometimes, so don’t let that be a reason to grind to a halt and stop working on what matters to you. Thought For The Day: May 6, 2019 ” Magic Things”

Happy Monday,

Our lives can be hectic and overfull of things we have to do. So today is a reminder to “stop and smell the flowers” . There is magic everywhere and in the smallest and  most mundane of things. But when we get caught up in our own “stuff’ we fail to appreciate the magic around us. If lifes “things” have you closed in, take a moment to just breathe. Stand in the sun, go barefoot in the grass, feel the breeze on your face. Clear the senses, still the mind and absorb the magic.

Thought For The Day: Jan 5, 2018 ” Dusting Off The Magic”

Happy Friday,

Adulting can be exhausting. When we were children there was magic around every corner. There was a sense of wonder and everything was cool and nifty. What happens to that magic as we get older? Does it disappear or have we simply packed it away into the closet? Wouldn’t it be great if we could combine our adult and inner rug-rat together? You can you know! Be aware of the world around you, don’t close things out or become closed off. Look for the shiny, the sparkly, the humor, or whatever else makes your inner rug-rat squee with delight. Look for the magic!

Burning Autumn Leaves
By Dennis Siluk Dr.h.c.

Burning Autumn Leaves

[1950s in St. Paul, Minnesota]

My long steel pointed rake punctured

And twisted through tons of autumn leaves

(back in the ’50s);

And there’s a hill yet, I didn’t rake, I see

Behind it, two embankments

Leaves I didn’t rake a day ago;

The essence of fall sleeps on the ground.

I love the scent of burning leaves:

I seem to dream of them nowadays.

I cannot shake the excitement I get

From the sight and smells of burning leaves.

Now the city will not allow the burning,

Not sure what can take its place–:

Only wishful thinking and dreaming, I think.

But every leaf that now appears, in autumn

I keep hearing the cracking of the fire; see

The flickering-flames of burning leaves; I

Can even smell—the autumn leaves of long ago.

I have had too much of raking leaves, I do believe–.

I’m now old and tired, too tired to rake those hills;

Yet raking I still desire, not sure why.

There were a thousand days I raked, back then

Held in hand, the rake that struck the earth–

Spiked, into its dirt–capturing those critters (leaves)

Like thieves–: thieves sleeping.

This tiredness of mine will never go away, I fear

It’s called aging, or something, so I will have to find

Another place, to smell the burning autumn leaves;

And perhaps, perchance, do just a ting of raking:

Before the long, long, very long sleep.

Thought For The Day: Sept. 15, 2017 ” The Magic of You”

Happy Friday!

Sometime’s we don’t realize what truly magical beings we are. We are unique and beautiful in our own way and everyday we make things happen! Too often we take ourselves and our abilities for granted and this can lead to “amnesia”. We forget what amazing beings we really are and the things that we are able to create and our magic becomes dormant. Waiting for us to remember that it’s there. Look for your magic today, dig for it if you need to, because you deserve to shine!

Thought for the day: August 7, 2017 “Magic and Wonder”

Happy Monday, welcome to a new week!

As children we saw the world as a place of wonder. It was magical and filled with fun and exciting things. By the time we grow up we have lost much of the magic and wonder that we had as children. Do you ever wish that you could recapture those feelings? The truth is that our magic and wonder isn’t lost, it has simply been packed away. Today I invite you to unpack that dusty box, allow yourself a change of perspective and embrace the magic and wonder today (and every day) holds!
