ThoughtCo: Spiritual and Healing Properties of Citrine

Citrine is a yellow quartz that has been associated for centuries as possessing the healing properties of the sun, but it can also be greenish-yellow, brownish-yellow, or orange. The mineral is often found in association with amethyst, but it is much rarer than its purple cousin. Indeed, citrine is made by heat-treating amethyst.

MBG: This Is Why Your Spirituality Isn’t Actually About You

According to a Pew Research Center study, only 39 percent of U.S. adults consider themselves “highly religious.” Until recently, Pew categorized those who couldn’t neatly check a box for a mainstream religion as “nones.” Yet the researchers were missing a key point: Many who didn’t fit easily into the surveys were becoming increasingly spiritual. Our definition of religion was expanding. We were redefining what sacred, spiritual, and religious meant for us. We were driving spiritual freedom of choice.

Elephant Journal: New Moon Meditation: Sowing Seeds for Love, Joy & Abundance

Once upon a time I was keen on manifesting my desires. Now, I’m more interested in surrendering to the Divine’s plan for my life.
That’s not to say I don’t experience any desire for particular things and experiences. It’s just that I’m aware of the old adage, “Be careful what you wish for”. What we desire is not always for our highest good.

MNN: Tornado safety: Before, during and after the storm

The savage violence of a tornado is heart-stopping; the death and destruction it can leave behind is heartbreaking. And while the arrival of a hurricane is preceded by days of warning, tornadoes strike suddenly. Those in the path of a tornado may have 15 minutes’ warning, if that. That makes safety precautions for tornadoes critical for survival.

Patheos-Pagan: Are You A Real Witch? The 13 Symptoms of Shadow Syndrome And Ways To Recover From It

Shadow Syndrome is characterized by feelings of unworthiness, of being a fraud, and looking to others for validation. While this can be debilitating, it’s actually a gift that can lead us towards our truth. One of the costs of witchcraft is learning to understand the darkness, including that which lives within us. Often these symptoms arise because the true witch within is telling us that it’s time to walk our authentic path. This is the calling to heal our shadows and claim the title of real witch, however we define it.

CREATE HAPPINESS RIGHT NOW

“It is our basic right to be a happy person, happy family, and eventually a happy world. That should be our goal.”
— Dalai Lama

Little adjustments to our attitude and approach each day can create a major difference in our appreciation of life. On the surface, nothing changes. At the same time, absolutely everything does.

Use your awareness or your imagination to bring happiness to this moment. Find something to appreciate. Do this as often as you remember to do so, and your world will transform.

” … we can no longer afford to throw away even one ‘unimportant’ day by not noticing the wonder of it all. We have to be willing to discover and then appreciate the authentic moments of happiness available to all of us every day.”

Inner Journey:

THE GIFT OF JOY

“Joy is prayer – Joy is strength – Joy is love – Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. She gives most who gives with Joy.”
— Mother Teresa

Some people unconsciously believe it’s not okay to feel more joyful than the people around them. Out of a mistaken sense of caring, they squelch their joy and tune in to the sadness of the one they are with.

In truth, joy is one of the greatest gifts we can give to people around us. Those who are unhappy need our joy, not our sadness.

“Never miss a joy in this world of trouble … that’s my theory! … Happiness, like mercy, is twice blest: it blesses those most intimately associated with it and it blesses all those who see it, hear it, touch it or breathe the same atmosphere.”
— Kate Douglas Wiggin

A Note from the Universe

Let’s say you live by a great, abundant, life-giving ocean, though at a very primitive time in history, and so you are very, very hungry. And let’s further say that you’re given a choice: a wading pond full of fish or fishing lessons; enough fish to last you for several weeks, or the skills to tap an unlimited supply. Which would you choose?

Ah-ha.

But, what if learning to fish meant multiple solo attempts to test out your new skills, during which you’d likely feel anxious, uncertain, and a little confused? And that while your instructor would never be far, doting over you like a mother does a young child, you’d forget this, and sometimes feel all alone. Would you still choose the lessons?

Oh, re-a-l-l-y?

Can you see me, now?

Progress

“Frozen food is not progress.”

-Russell Baker

Technology has offered us some amazing conveniences – but at what expense? Do we hole up with our computers rather than socialize with our fellow travelers? Do we make a habit of eating fast food rather than enjoying the wholesomeness of something freshly prepared at home? Where, for the sake of “progress,” have we gone awry? When we remember the lessons we have learned in the past and build on them, then we make progress. It’s not necessarily about making life “easier” but about experiencing the beauty that is already there.

Each New Moon signals the time to reset our inner clocks to nature’s timetable. Cancer is a water sign; it is the Moon that measures out the ebb and flow of the ocean’s tides. As old as the moon is the ocean – watery womb and source of life. The inner knowledge of nature’s rhythms is the key to life: to move instinctively in concert with the rise and fall, the emptiness and fullness,

Did You Know?

Before Spring was called Spring, it was called Lent in Old English. Starting in the 14th century, that time of year was called springing time, a reference to plants springing from the ground. In the 15th century this got shortened to spring-time, and then further shortened in the 16th century to just spring.

Inner Journey: Slow down

“The soul requires duration of time — rich, thick, deep, velvety time — and it thrives on rhythm. Soul cant be hurried or harried …. We may go through many events in the day and experience nothing because the soul has not had the opportunity to feel them from many different points of view.”
— Robert Sardello

Soul cannot exist when our connections in life remain superficial. An experience of soul requires that we take time to be fully present to the details of our lives.

Explore what happens when you take the time to STOP and PAY ATTENTION. When we choose to slow down and really experience the qualities of our lives, we get a whole new perspective on what living is all about.

“We must not allow the clock and the calendar to blind us to the fact that each moment of life is a miracle and mystery.”

“We may think of the Divine as a fire whose outgoing warmth pervades the Universe.”-Plotinus

Many people say God IS love. And love certainly pervades the Universe. Love is something we all understand, something we can all relate to. Every mother knows what it means to love a child. Every person is capable of giving and receiving love. In A Course in Miracles, fear is defined as the absence of love. Much like darkness is the absence of light.
