Cat’s Morning Bits for June 3, 2019
Good Morning Beautiful Souls, grab a cup of your favorite morning brew and start things off with “Today’s Inspirations”. I hope you find something here that will make you feel good or help you on your path today.
Nothing is so beautiful as Spring-
When weeds, in wheels, shoot long and lovely and lush;
Thrush’s eggs look little low heavens, and thrush
Through the echoing timber does so rinse and wring
The ear, it strikes like lightnings to hear him sing.
-Gerard Manley Hopkins (1844-89)
Spiritual Unite: Seeing An Owl At Night Meaning
The natural world is teeming with symbolism, and the owl is no exception. There are many cultural and spiritual meanings associated with owl encounters, especially when you see them at night
Today’s Deity: Bendis (Thracian)
BENDIS was the ancient Thracian goddess of the moon and hunting who was worshipped with Bacchic-like orgies in the wilds of Thrake.
The Greeks identified her with the goddesses Artemis, Hekate and Selene. Bendis may have been the same as the Thracian goddess Kotys (Cotys).
ThoughtCo: Celebrating Litha, the Summer Solstice
The gardens are blooming, and summer is in full swing. Fire up the barbeque, turn on the sprinkler, and enjoy the celebrations of Midsummer! Also called Litha, this summer solstice Sabbat honors the longest day of the year. Take advantage of the extra hours of daylight and spend as much time as you can outdoors!
Daily Tarot: The High Priestess
Even if it’s a busy day at work or with loved ones, it may still be an introspective kind of day when you need to frequently take a quiet moment to reflect. Be organized and perform your tasks well, but also find those quiet instances when you can make sense of your feelings and impressions. You can get a great deal done today, and feel inwardly satisfied about it.
MBG: Feeling Overwhelmed? Try This Simple Relaxing Exercise
When we feel stressed or anxious, it’s not uncommon for our breath to become shallow—we may even feel like we’re holding our breath. As you can guess, this doesn’t help when trying to relieve anxiety. Sarah Bowen, the author of the new book Spiritual Rebel, lets us in on an easy way to engage with our breath and become aware of our inner state. Whether you’re out and about or sitting at a desk, you’ll be able to do this exercise and hopefully, find yourself in a more peaceful state.

Elephant Journal: New Moon Meditation: Sowing Seeds for Love, Joy & Abundance
Once upon a time I was keen on manifesting my desires. Now, I’m more interested in surrendering to the Divine’s plan for my life.
That’s not to say I don’t experience any desire for particular things and experiences. It’s just that I’m aware of the old adage, “Be careful what you wish for”. What we desire is not always for our highest good.
And equally, what we desire may be entirely for our highest good and be fully aligned with Divine’s plan for us
MNN: What to see in the night sky in June
Welcome to June, a glorious month filled with the sweet fragrance of flowers, BBQs, long days and short evenings. It’s also the start of summer, offering those interested in gazing up at the night sky an opportunity to do so with little more than a blanket or lawn chair. Check out our list below for some highlights to catch in the skies above this month. Wishing you clear evenings!
EarthSky News: Find the Crow, Cup and Water Snake
At nightfall tonight, or any June evening, look in a general southward direction for Spica, the brightest star in the constellation Virgo the Maiden. If you live in the Southern Hemisphere, Spica appears overhead or high in your northern sky around 9 p.m. in early June. Spica is your jumping off point to three faint constellations: Corvus the Crow, Crater the Cup and Hydra the Snake.
Patheos-Pagan: Why Can’t There Be Christian Witches?
I noticed someone on social media lamenting a Christian Witches convention that took place in Salem Massachusetts this past April. Never mind that the event is already over with, I’m much more bothered by the policing of both the Witch and Christian worlds, and the idea that there’s “no such thing as a Christian witch.”
THE GIFT OF JOY
“Joy is prayer – Joy is strength – Joy is love – Joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls. She gives most who gives with Joy.”
— Mother Teresa
Some people unconsciously believe it’s not okay to feel more joyful than the people around them. Out of a mistaken sense of caring, they squelch their joy and tune in to the sadness of the one they are with.
In truth, joy is one of the greatest gifts we can give to people around us. Those who are unhappy need our joy, not our sadness.
“Never miss a joy in this world of trouble … that’s my theory! … Happiness, like mercy, is twice blest: it blesses those most intimately associated with it and it blesses all those who see it, hear it, touch it or breathe the same atmosphere.”
— Kate Douglas Wiggin
A Note from the Universe
Let’s say you live by a great, abundant, life-giving ocean, though at a very primitive time in history, and so you are very, very hungry. And let’s further say that you’re given a choice: a wading pond full of fish or fishing lessons; enough fish to last you for several weeks, or the skills to tap an unlimited supply. Which would you choose?
But, what if learning to fish meant multiple solo attempts to test out your new skills, during which you’d likely feel anxious, uncertain, and a little confused? And that while your instructor would never be far, doting over you like a mother does a young child, you’d forget this, and sometimes feel all alone. Would you still choose the lessons?
Can you see me, now?

“Frozen food is not progress.”
Technology has offered us some amazing conveniences – but at what expense? Do we hole up with our computers rather than socialize with our fellow travelers? Do we make a habit of eating fast food rather than enjoying the wholesomeness of something freshly prepared at home? Where, for the sake of “progress,” have we gone awry? When we remember the lessons we have learned in the past and build on them, then we make progress. It’s not necessarily about making life “easier” but about experiencing the beauty that is already there.
