Life is full of storms. Some we weather alone, some times we have help and sometimes we have to deal with our own and help another at the same time and while we may not be able to actually help we can listen. Listening is a great skill and you never know what you might learn by being an active listener. You might even find something that will help you to navigate your own storm.

Thought For The Day: January 29, 2020 ” It’s A Win-Win”

Happy Wednesday,

Time is a gift that we can share with anyone and anywhere. Of all the things we can do for another sharing our time is one of the best. My mother, who is 87, is a good example. Sometimes when I ask her if there is anything she needs from me her answer is ” Just your company”. I make time even if it means that I don’t get something else done or it puts me behind. Why? Because it’s important and it makes her feel good and makes me feel good too. It’s a win-win situation!

Problems. We all have them although sometimes we forget that. Remember that others are going through things that we know nothing about. So if the person that you usually turn to seems distracted, snaps at you, or doesn’t return a call or text just remind yourself that life happens to EVERYONE and that sometimes we just have to deal with our own stuff so that others can take care of theirs.

It’s easy to push this need aside when faced with the busyness that is a part of our everyday lives. Feeling drained, tired or angry are some of the signs that a break is needed. Never apologize about taking time for yourself and when you need it…. do it!

Thought For The Day: January 23, 2020 “Past or Future”

Happy Thursday,

Reminiscing about the past can be fun, it can help us heal, it brings up memories and old feelings.  The past can make us happy, sad, scared or even angry. When we look back we can find things that we could have or should have said or done differently. There are people we should have avoided and people we should have held onto. When we go through difficult times in our lives we tend to look back at what was. The key is to learn the lessons that the past has to offer and move forward. Don’t allow yourself to get stuck in your past, if you do you will miss out on the good things that the future offers.

Thought For The Day: January 22, 2020 “No Bandaids”

Problems can be messy things when ignored or simply patched up. While a quick fix often looks good the reality is that by failing to fix the problem it grows and multiplies and becomes more difficult to fix. However, by dealing with things when they pop up instead of the quick fix method we save ourselves time, energy and various levels of stress in the long run.  Take care of things when they happen and you’ll be thanking yourself later.

Happy Tuesday,

At some time in our lives, most of us have taken revenge on another. We may have even felt good about it at the time and then later thought “Well that was stupid. Why did I waste my time and energy on that person?” Revenge can go from small petty stuff all the way to crazy and harmful. While most of us outgrow the revenge stage there are those who never outgrow it and take the “I must get even” code as a lifestyle. But eventually, their bill comes due and the debt collector comes for them. How about we just let karma sort it out?

This means that we must adapt with them if it is something that we truly want. Stay open to new ideas and new opportunities will come knocking. It’s up to you to channel your “inner locksmith” and create a new set of keys for the new doors that opportunity provides.
