Thought For The Day: July 12, 2019 ” The Art of Healing”

Happy Friday,

No one ever said healing yourself was easy. In order to make it happen you must work at it. It takes TIME, it won’t happen over night, but it will happen. It takes PRACTICE. to get it right you must keep trying. But most of all it takes LOVE, no one can do it for you so you must love yourself enough to make it happen.

Thought For The Day: April 23, 2019 “Time”

Happy Tuesday,

This is an interesting quote and probably something we have all said at one time or another. I think we say “I don’t have time” to be polite. Words and truth are important and while we may be busy and our time may be limited it’s what we say that matters.  Instead of ” I don’t have time” how about “I’m not able to do that right now but let me see where I can fit that in.” If you really don’t want to do something, the truth is always best.

Thought For The Day: March 11, 2019 “Heal Thy Self”

Happy Monday,

Self healing isn’t some kind of New Age mumbo jumbo. Sometimes the most profound and powerful healing can be found through “The beauty and solitude of NATURE”, The passage of TIME, and the ” PATIENCE to let things happen and simply wait.

Thought For The Day: Feb. 20, 2019 “Is It A Waste?”

Happy Wednesday,

Our quote for today really makes you think. We often do things that we  see (or others see) as a waste of time. I guess that it’s a perspective thing. Sometimes what we see as a waste of time is actually helping us to regroup and recharge. It can be healing, relaxing, and a much needed mini getaway from life and it’s problems. Take that “waste of time” and make it part of your self care routine.

MBG: This Common Strategy For Handling Anxiety Actually Makes It Worse

Anxiety is primarily a mental state, meaning that when we’re in anxiety, we’re cut off from our bodies. So in order to shift from an anxious state to one informed by well-being, we must be willing to look beyond simply reframing or challenging our thoughts and instead look to the messages that anxiety is attempting to deliver.

Daily Good: Living Simply in a Tiny Off-Grid Cabin

Meet Tom, Sarah and their daughter, Neesa. They live in a 20 square meter off-grid cabin on property in New Zealand. Instead of paying rent, they share the work of looking after the land with the owners. Tom is a medical doctor and Sarah is an illustrator. Both have chosen to reduce their work to almost nothing in order to have more time to focus on living well. This short film is an example of Happen Films’ Living the Change, a feature-length documentary which explores solutions of which any one of us can be a part

Inner Journey:

ONE STEP AT A TIME

“What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.”
— Antoine De Saint-Exupery

Does the prospect of changing and growing seem monumental to you? Just too much to tackle?

Then consider this approach. Take a simple step of affirming your openness to experience more or something new. Or a different first step might be to let go of judgment by embracing the neutral. Begin to see the people, activities and things around you asneither good nor bad.

A journey is made of many small steps. Don’t focus on a far-off destination if you’re not clear how to get there. Build a foundation that is solid for you. We get to new places one step at a time.

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”
— Martin Luther King, Jr.

“One may walk over the highest mountain one step at a time.”

Spirituality & Health: Healthier Holiday Drinks

Fa la la, it’s eggnog season! And merlot at the office party season. And an Old Fashioned for Christmas Eve dinner season. There’s an awful lot of cocktail opportunities coming up in December, and while it’s fine to enjoy in moderation, many libations have a ton of sugar, carbs or artificial chemicals. BE AWARE OF YOUR MOTIVES

“Ordinarily, everything we do is in our self-interest. Everything.”
— Anthony de Mello

“Remember, most of the things you think you need are ego trips designed to bolster your image and your perception of security…. You’ll waste a lot of energy satisfying your ego only to find that, as soon as it’s got what it wants, it ignores all your efforts and promptly nails another list of demands to your forehead. The ego will always try to force you to slave for its vision. I wouldn’t stand for that BS if I were you.”

I’ve said it before on this blog and I’m not alone in saying it: your ego is your enemy. Usually, when we think about our own suffering, we tend to stay at a superficial level. DARE TO RISK

“To try is to risk failure. But risk must be taken because the greatest hazard of life is to risk nothing. The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing, is nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn, feel, change, grow, live, and love.”
— Leo Buscaglia

Daring to risk is an essential step to self empowerment. This is the key to breaking out of stuck thinking and behaviour. It is about breaking through the comfort zones and barriers. It is about experiencing new levels of mind and feelings. It is about experiencing more life.
