“You never will be the person you can be if pressure, tension and discipline are taken out of your life.” — James G. Bilkey
We need tension in our lives. It’s the force of personal evolution — it sparks creativity and higher consciousness. If we’re not comfortable with a situation, we try to improve it, right?
Tension arises through our experience of opposites. These opposites fight each other as each one struggles for dominance. Tension is transformed when two opposite dimensions of reality are brought together in balance and in wholeness.
Know that tension is an integral part of growth. Instead of avoiding or resisting tension when it arises, identify the opposing forces at play. Make space for each of them to be there together and the tension will transform.
We encounter tensions between positives and negatives, mind and body, self and environment, self and others, and personality and soul – the dualities in our lives.

Challenge “To be tested is good. The challenged life may be the best therapist.”
-Gail Sheehy, 1986
So here’s our challenge. Every day is a new day, a new start. What shall we do with ourselves? I know, we’re busy people, we have enough to do. But are we challenging ourselves? Are we learning and growing and stretching ourselves to do the best that we can every day? It doesn’t matter what we do so much as how we go about doing it. We meet a challenge by going for it!

Being Proactive: Cat’s Angel Message for January 23, 2021

Keep making room in your life by being proactive about what can be let go. ~Cat
_____________________________
123: We are busy creatures spending our days scurrying about like ants on a mission and expend great amounts of energy, time and money. Some of the “expenditures” are worthwhile and others are not and it’s easy to wear ourselves out. Humans also tend to hang on to things like people, possessions, and activities simply out of habit. Today our angels are asking us to look at where our time, energy and money go and to root out the things we no longer need, have outgrown or keep hanging onto just because. Simplify your life is the key phrase for today. Be proactive about making room in your life and check the expiration dates. If something doesn’t fulfill you, bring you joy, or it steals your energy it’s time to let it go. Remember that through simplifying and clearing you are making room for new adventures, friends, and blessings!
Today’s Spirit Helpers include:
Archangel Michael helps to calm our fears as he guides us through issues of self doubt by clearing our energy field and quieting the internal chatter so that we can access the guidance being sent to us. He helps us to find our courage and our direction while giving us the strength that we need to choose wisely and make decisions on our own. Michael’s energy is easily felt particularly during times of stress and confusion and helps us when we feel lost or overwhelmed. He sets us on the path of commitment to our purpose by showing us how to work through obstacles that pop up as he teaches us that we have what it takes to create new things for ourselves as he helps us reach new levels of self confidence.
The Himalayan Ascended Master Babaji helps us to achieve the personal and spiritual growth necessary for the letting go process. He assists us in detaching ourselves from both material things and things that no longer serve us. He teaches us that letting go is a form of simplifying your life. It frees your energy so that you can work on what’s important so that new blessings can be received.
The Hindu Mother Goddess Durga teaches us how to create boundaries and maintain them as well as protecting yourself from the negative or controling energy of others. She says: ” Personal boundaries are important to your well being. It is sometimes best to walk away. I can help you to step back and give you the self assurance to do what is in your best interest.”
Today’s Sacred Stones include:
Garnet. This deep red stone helps us to let go of old, outdated and harmful ideas, and patterns. This is important to achieving overall balance as we sometimes do things just because we can and have been allowed to get away with it. Garnet also promotes balance by helping to clear and re-energize the chakras.
Hematite. This stone has a strong connection to the earth element and helps us stay grounded and promotes feelings of safety. Hematite also brings mental clarity through focus and concentration which is essential letting go process which accompanies change.
Iolite, also known as “Poor Man’s Amethyst” it is a stone of vision that assists our intuition and aids us in setting things in motion by staying true to yourself and your path while freeing you from the expectations of others. It helps us to live in the moment making it easier to snag the blessings given to us. It is also a soothing stone that calms the emotions during times of change.

Inner Journey: DAILY FORGIVENESS
“As long as you don’t forgive, who and whatever it is will occupy rent-free space in your mind.” — Isabelle Holland
We cannot avoid daily resentment and thoughts of guilt. They are a part of human nature. What we can do is release their grip on us. We can forgive others and ourselves daily.
Forgiveness requires nothing in return. There are no conditions. It gets rid of old baggage and clears up unfinished business. It leads us to a life of authenticity, lightness and directness. Forgiveness is the highest form of letting go of resentment andego.
True forgiveness is more than an apology, understanding and acceptance. There is an element of recreating and re-imagining. There is a need to envision ourselves as more loving, interdependent, courageous and compassionate. Forgiveness requires honouringthe sacred journey of learning about life – our life and others’.

Sleep “I believe the greatest asset a head of state can have is the ability to get a good night’s sleep.”
-Harold Wilson
We could take this quote a couple of ways. When we sleep well, we are strong, and we make good decisions. And when we have done our best, and made what we feel are good decisions, we have a clear conscience, so we can get a good night sleep without having nagging thoughts keeping us up at night. This is true for anyone, not just a head of state.

This is a quote about gratitude. To truly be happy we must be grateful for the things that we have. All things have value, from the small and mundane to the large and fancy. Those people who continually want more often have no concept of gratitude. They accumulate more and more and are never satisfied. The one thing that this pandemic has taught us is that we can be content with what we have and appreciate the blessings we receive more fully.

Inner Journey: THE KEY TO CREATIVITY
“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge islimited. Imagination encircles the world.” — Albert Einstein
Do you know the key to creativity?
It rhymes with weed. It produces the oak tree. We often eat it or grind it up for flour. It can mean cause or origination. You guessed it. It is SEED.
Our minds love to associate one thing to another. But as we get stuck in very fixed patterns of thinking, we think of fewer and fewer connections. We are ruled by habits, associations and automatic responses. So we must stimulate our thinking with lots of different seeds to chart new paths in our brains.

Ah! The dreams that we dream! Some outrageous fantasies – some bizarre, seemingly unrelated scenarios pieced together to resemble an unfinished puzzle by Salvador Dali. Just as the body needs rest to repair itself, the mind needs rest, too, and it works things out in our dreams. It doesn’t have to make sense – somehow it registers and we figure out just what needs to be done. These little glimpses into our psyche can lead to great wisdom… or it could just be an evening’s entertainment!

Daily Tarot: The Hermit
It might be a busy day, but try to make some time for yourself. Any time you spend meditating or settling your mind will be time well spent. It doesn’t have to be spent sitting around and being idle all day. Staring pensively into that cup of tea for a few moments can be equally beneficial. Calm your mind, and your heart, and make it an at-peace day.
