Inner Journey:

COMPASSION

“What I want in my life is compassion, a flow between myself and others based on a mutual giving from the heart.”
— Marshall B. Rosenberg

“The whole idea of compassion is based on a keen awareness of the interdependence of all these living beings, which are all part of one another, and all involved in one another.”
— Thomas Merton

“When we experience the pain of another person, we instinctively want to take away that pain. But by taking away the other person’s pain, we also take away his or her opportunity to grow. To be truly compassionate, we must be able to share another person’s suffering and pain — knowing there is nothing we can do to relieve it and that we are not responsible for it, and yet knowing and understanding what that pain feels like.”

Today’s Recipe: Snickers-Stuffed Peanut Butter Cookies

Every year around Halloween, I like to come up with a sweet treat that uses candies from trick-or-treating events. Either you have kids that end up with lots of them, or you have loads leftover from handing them out. My favourite candy has always been Snickers, so these peanut butter cookies are stuffed with them. The outside is a lovely sandy, crumbly cookie, and the middle is gooey and chewy from the baked Snickers. I’ve had a dozen people ask me for this recipe after an event I made them for last week, so be ready to share if you make these, too!

Persistence

“Rome was not built in a day.”

-John Clarke (1596-1658)

I’ve always heard this quote, and never knew who said it, so I was happy to come across it this time around. How appropriate! In this fast-paced society we tend to expect instant gratification. How often do you hear people complain about how slow their computers are, or their dial-up, or the pizza guy? And all that spills over into our expectations for ourselves. We want that great job NOW, that dream relationship NOW, enlightenment NOW! But we have to remember that there is always divine timing involved. The seed needs time to sprout, the sprout needs time to grow. We are like that sprout that needs to keep pushing up the dirt, keep reaching toward the sun. We’re growing every day.

Sharing Compassion: Cat’s Angel Message for October 4, 2019

daily Angel Message sms

Sharing Compassion: Cat’s Angel Message for October 4, 2019

October’s Theme:  Divine guidance and messages.  These messages are important for us personally, emotionally and spiritually so work on staying open to the information that you receive.

The purpose of human life is to serve and to show compassion and the will to help others. – Albert Schweitzer

104:  Today the Universe is reminding us that we are always surrounded by divine love. This powerful energy is shared freely and we are being asked to do the same. Empathy and compassion, for self, for others, are gifts that we can share every day. While we may not understand or agree with a particular situation or event we can express empathy for what others (or even yourself) are going through. If you are feeling out of sorts today take a moment to clear and center and ask the Source to fill your being with love, peace, and gratitude. Remember, when you love yourself it’s easier to share that love with others. Love and compassion are superpowers that transform all that they touch. Who will you touch today?

Archangel Jophiel the angel of Illumination and wisdom, fills us with beautiful, loving thoughts and uplifting energy which helps us to create a fresh approach to life. Jophiel tells us that goodness and beauty surround us all the time. By keeping ourselves open to receiving these blessings it draws the things we need directly to us.

The Ascended Master Mother Mary provides us with all forms of healing. She surrounds us with her gentle energy and helps to fill our hearts with love as she imparts feelings of peace and safety as she gently heals the dark, hidden places within while showing us the path that leads to compassion and forgiveness which are essential to healing ourselves and helping others.

The Celtic Goddess Aeracura shows us the way to expand and share our loving energy. She tells us, ” Playfulness and a carefree spirit are the heart of true abundance. By sharing of yourselves it creates an energy that spreads and grows.”

Our Sacred Stones for today include:

  • Rose Quartz brings inner peace and harmony. The energy of this stone is very soothing and can help calm frazzled nerves. It helps to promote the softer, move loving view that we need to embrace gratitude, it soothes and clears the emotions and fills us with loving compassion. It works with the heart chakra to gently wash away negative feelings that we harbor against ourselves and lifts the emotions to promote joy and peace.
  • Malachite helps to support friendships and promotes empathy towards others. It also strengthens our ability to absorb and process information so that we can show our feelings in a positive way.
  • White Topaz to help increase our connection to the Divine. This gemstone brings feelings of happiness and spiritual awareness.

Bright blessings for a magickal day!

Thought For The Day: May 30, 2019 ” Judgement”

Happy Thursday,

It’s easy to judge. These words are so true.  Judgement can happen in a snap while understanding can take a little time. Even if you don’t agree with someones words or actions use your empathy and compassion to shed some light and gain perspective.

She Dwells Within: Cat’s Angel Message for May 13, 2019

daily Angel Message sms

She Dwells Within: Cat’s Angel Message for May 13, 2019

May’s Theme: This month brings changes into your life. While change sometimes feels scary, it is a necessary thing for our overall growth. Be willing to embrace it and allow it to happen naturally and get ready for better things!

She was deeply passionate about the sacred feminine. – Dan Brown

513:  Today the Sacred Feminine Spirit (which includes ascended masters, bodhisattvas and goddesses) is asking each of us (regardless of gender) to embrace our own sacred feminine energy. This energy helps us to embrace the compassion and love that we store inside and  allows it to flow outward. This also helps us on an emotional level by encouraging us to nurture and tend to the new growth that we have uncovered during our “weed pulling” activities. With things changing for the better it’s more important than ever to spread good vibes and plant new thought seeds where you can. Take the initiative and help create the things you want. Use your natural talents and creativity to transform your life for the better.

Work with some of the feminine archetypes and goddesses today.  The Ascended Master Saint Therese helps to soothe troubled emotions while leading us down the path of personal peace. The Ascended Master Mother Mary surrounds us with her gentle energy and helps to fill our hearts with love. She teaches us about compassion and forgiveness which are essential to healing ourselves and helping others. The Hindu goddess and bodhisattva White Tara provides a gentle energy which helps us to approach things with a focus on divine love and prayer. She says, “Come and sit beside me. I will help ease the worry in your heart and teach you how to replace it with gratitude and joy. This is where faith dwells and we must only open the doors and invite it forward.” And Aine, the Irish goddess of wealth and fertility shows us the path to increasing faith in both the Source and in ourselves. “True wealth is everywhere, but first you must find it within. Use the seeds you are gifted and use them to help you to grow your abundance.”

Our Sacred Stone for today is Rose Quartz. This gentle stone soothes emotions and helps us find unconditional love for ourselves and for others. It strengthens our ability to provide empathy and helps us to find loving relationships. Rose Quartz pushes away negative energy and helps us to release buried emotions and emotional conditioning that no longer serves us. What a great day for an emotional bubblebath!

Bright blessings for a magickal day!

Patheos-Pagan: Messages from Spirits of the Land

A few weeks ago I noticed something sparkling from the back yard. When I went to investigate I discovered a blue marble sitting in the very center of my back patio. I assumed it was a message from the Fae, but I’m also a healthy skeptic, so I waited. The next day, I found a hazelnut shell in the exact same place. The next day a whole peanut. The next day half of a walnut shell. These were clearly all messages from the Spirits of the Land

Inner Journey:

REFLECTIONS ON EFFORT

The anxious student asked the Zen master how long to enlightenment. The Zen Master answered a long time, at least 10 years. The student said, “Well I will work twice as hard.” The Zen master said, “Then it will take 20 years.” “No!” said the committed student, “I will work three times as hard.” “Well then,” said the Zen master, “it will take 30 years.”

Do you need to work at being spiritual? No. You already are spiritual. Do you need to work at being human? No. That’s just who you are.

The spiritual path doesn’t require us to get anything. It’s a process of opening to new dimensions of who we already are. It’s a process of awakening to our own truth. It’s a process of allowing ourselves to be authentic.

“It is not by your actions that you will be saved, but by your being.”
— Meister Eckhart

“People ask what must they become to be loving. The answer is ‘nothing.’ It is a process of letting go of what you thought you had become and allowing your true nature to float to the surface naturally.”
— Stephen Levine

Daily Good: Why Shadows Were Invented

In ‘From These Wilds Beyond Our Fences,’ Bayo Akomolafe points out that when Seventeenth-century physicist Francesco Grimaldi directed a focused ray of sunlight in a dark room, managing the ray so that it struck a thin rod and produced a shadow on a screen, he proved that light behaves in unexpected ways. In fact, light is only one side of a whole, like yin and yang. Thus “darkness is not the absence of light — it is the very dance of light…Light and dark are not opposites or estranged cosmic forces that one side must defeatfor there are no “sides.””

The weeks around the spring equinox are best for viewing the zodiacal light in the evening. Inner Journey:

WHAT’S YOUR BEST ROUTINE?

“For all my good intentions, there are days when things go wrong or I fall into old habits. When things are not going well, when I’m grumpy or mad, I’ll realize that I’ve not been paying attention to my soul and I’ve not been following my best routine.”
— Robert Fulghum

How do you need to bring more balance to your life?

Robert Fulghum has shared, “The older I get, the more I realize the importance of exercising the various dimensions of my body, soul, mind and heart. Taken together, these aspects give me a sense of wholeness. I want to be a whole human being rather than one who limps on one leg because I don’t know how to use all of my parts. Intellectual, emotional, and physical activity are not separate entities. Rather, they are dimensions of the same human being.”

“There is an Indian Belief that everyone is in a house of four rooms: A physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room everyday, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete.”

Compassion
“Spiritual energy brings compassion into the real world. With compassion, we see benevolently our own human condition and the condition of our fellow beings. We drop prejudice. We withhold judgment.”

-Christina Baldwin (1990)

As the world grows spiritually, we will grow compassionately. The Bible tells the story of the Good Samaritan. We know this is an example for us to live by. If we would all practice compassion, follow our hearts to help others in need, then the real world would be a lot a lot less scary place to live.

On the Wheel of the year, Ostara is the celebration of the spring Equinox. This Sabbat marks a point of perfect balance between light and darkness. Past this point, the days will be longer than the nights: we will be into the brightest part of the year. For Wiccans, Ostara is a festival of fertility and light.

Elephant Journal: Five Ways to Celebrate Spring Equinox (& One Simple Ritual).

Is there anything more exciting than the first promise of spring?
Personally, I am grateful to live in a part of the world where the seasons are clearly demarcated by Nature’s travels around the Wheel of the Year.
As a quick refresher of high school science (which I paid little attention to, I can assure you), let me share the basics of what happens during the Vernal Equinox.

MNN: Your shedding dog can help birds this spring

When I brush my dog, especially in spring, I like to do it on the back deck. Depending on how much fluff I gather and how hard the wind is blowing, I often have wandering dog-hair tumbleweeds all over the yard

Inner Journey:

WONDER-FULL!

“…we can’t survive without enchantment… the loss of it is killing us.”
— Thomas Moore

“There is one thing that all true spirituality has in common, whether that spirituality is derived from faith, from science, from nature or from the arts – a sense of wonder.”
— Andrew Schneider

“There are only two ways to live your life: One is as though nothing is a miracle, The other is as though everything is a miracle. I believe in the latter.”
— Albert Einstein

“We live in a world of theophanies. Holiness comes wrapped in the ordinary. There are burning bushes all around you. Every tree is full of angels. Hidden beauty is waiting in every crumb. Life wants to lead you from crumbsto angels, but this can happen only if you are willing to unwrap the ordinary by staying with it long enough to harvest its treasure.”
— Macrina Wiederkehr

Compassion
“Compassion is the desire that moves the individual self to widen the scope of its self-concern to embrace the whole of the universal self.”

-Arnold J. Toynbee (1889-1975)

Compassion moves us beyond our own immediate needs and concerns and shows us how important it is to look at the big picture. We are all in this together. When one of us feels pain it affects the whole. When one of us extends ourselves to ease that pain, the healing reverberates to affect the whole.
