The use of Lavender has been documented for thousands of years. Pliny the Elder says that its blossom, called Asarum, sold for a hundred Roman denarii. The Greeks called it Nardus, after a city in Syria on the banks of the Euphrates.

MBG: These Outdoor Rituals Are Begging For A Spot In Your Summer Routine

Is there anything more electric than the start of summer? A time to crack open closed windows; take long, meandering walks; and plan the season’s travel, it feels busting with promise and possibility. If you live in an area with severe winters, this point of the year is also an opportunity to reconnect with nature after months spent indoors.

Elephant Journal: How to Turn Any Practice into a Ritual

Every millenial has dabbled with a skin care regimen, meditation practice, or bedtime routine at some point. Here are the seven qualities to cultivate, to turn any routine into a heart-warming ritual.

A spell can be worked in many ways from a simple pointing of the finger to a complicated ritual involving lots of tools, herbs and crystals and of course any variation in between. WHERE’S YOUR ATTENTION?

“Only one thing has to change for us to know happiness in our lives: where we focus our attention.”
— Greg Anderson

What do you usually focus on: problems or solutions?

When our mind dwells on a problem, we stay stuck. Woe is me! But when we can shift to ask how we might achieve a solution to our problem, our subconscious mind, thinking and creativity move into gear. New possibilities open up.

Get in the habit of asking for solutions!

“Every choice moves us closer to or farther away from something. Where are your choices taking your life? What do your behaviors demonstrate that you are saying yes or no to in life?”

See through a false impression or some illusion that has been projected to throw you off course or to misjudge someone. Done innocently or deliberately, you can dispel that false impression and work your way right through it. You could even do this without challenging or confronting anyone directly, thus saving yourself the trauma of a showdown. Go slow when making any decisions that affect others.

Self-Realization

“One of the signs of passing youth is the birth of a sense of fellowship with other human beings as we take our place among them.”

-Virginia Woolf (1882-1941)

As we start learning more about ourselves, and realizing more and more who we really are, we begin to understand just how much we really have in common with one another. We’re all in this together, and there is so much we can each to do help one another. As time goes on, we naturally become more compassionate, because we can empathize with a more broad range of experiences.

Across many ancient civilizations throughout the world, love was placed under the domain of a certain deity, usually, but not in all cases, a goddess. In the ancient Near East, love was personified in such goddesses as Ishtar and Astarte. Further afield in West Africa, the Yoruba people believe in a love goddess by the name of Oshun

SMART QUESTIONS TO KEEP HANDY

“Quality questions create a quality life. Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.”
— Anthony Robbins

Last time, we talked about questions to avoid. Today, let’s consider some that are truly empowering:
• Is there a message for me in this experience?
• What’s the gift in this situation?
• What can I learn from this?
• What’s the most loving thing I could do now?
• What’s the most important thing for me to focus on now?
• What would I do if I knew I could not fail?
• What would I do if there were nothing to fear?

“A prudent question is one-half of wisdom.”

A Note from the Universe

Dreams come true, that’s what they do. The only variable is when.

For the slow approach: Resist. Attach. Insist. Deny. Stop. Second guess. Whine. Argue. Defend. Protest. Cry. Struggle. And ask others, when you know the answer yourself.

For the quick approach: Visualize. Pretend. Prepare. Dodge. Roll. Serpentine. Do not waver over intentions, but over methods. Show up, even when nothing happens. And give thanks in advance.
You knew that,

The Universe

Body

“We should conduct ourselves not as if we ought to live for the body, but as if we could not live without it.”

-Seneca the Younger (5? BC – AD 65)

There is a kind of mindfulness that we need to observe when taking care of the body. We need to exercise, but not overdo. We need to eat properly, but not too much. This is a precious package that is ours to take care of. And when we take care of the body, it takes care of us. We all have this in common. We may look so different on the outside – different shapes, sizes, colors, ages, whatever. But on the inside- it’s all the same basic equipment. What makes us “tick” is all the same “stuff.”

Fortune, flirtation, and fragrance, all rolled into one!

Lilacs are lovely and fragrant, and in the late spring and early summer, you’ll probably notice their distinct, heady scent whenever you’re near one. Unfortunately, they only bloom for a very short period–just a couple of weeks, depending on where you live–so if you’re going to take advantage of their magical properties, you’ve got a pretty brief window of time to harvest the flowers. They typically appear between Beltane and Litha, the summer solstice, but again, there will be some variations depending on your planting zone.

Inner Journey:

Soul lives in connection

“We all seek Soul. While Soul is always present, it doesn’t appear in our lives automatically. Soul requires our attention and reflection. Offering our respectful regard to the Soul is a way of loving it, caring for it, nurturing it.”
— Benjamin Shield and Richard Carlson

How do we experience soul in our lives?

It’s so simple! STOP AND PAY ATTENTION! Soul lives in connection. Whenever we are present and conscious, soul emerges.

To easily experience soul, find something you love to do and immerse yourself in it. Consciously savour a favourite piece of music. Consciously enjoy a walk in nature. Really experience your breathing and the pounding of your heart as you exercise. Really be present to your partner, your kids, your pet or another, and you will know the contentment of soul.

“I think that whenever soul is present, it’s because what you’re doing, whom you’re with, where you are, evokes love without your thinking about it. You are totally absorbed in the place or person or event, without ego and without judgment.”
— Jean Shinoda Bolen
