Spirit Library: Era of Pure Potential (a message from Kate Spreckley)

For too long our world and our lives have been governed by the need to survive. We have lived with the idea that life follows a monotonous and predictable path of experience.

The spruce tree is one of the most famous trees in western and Mediterranean culture and has been for thousands of years.

Perhaps the most famous use of the spruce tree is as a Christmas tree.

EarthSky News: Planetary trio low in west at dusk

For the first time since October 2015, sky watchers have the chance to view a planetary trio, or three planets all bunched up together on the sky’s dome. At evening dusk – January 8, 9, 10 and 11, 2021 – watch for the planets Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn to pop out low in the sky, rather close to the sunset point on the horizon. Jupiter is the brightest of the bunch, followed by Mercury and then Saturn.

Patheos-Pagan: Working spells with Earth Magic

Several types of magic lend themselves to working with the earth element.

Perhaps an obvious one. Burying your petitions in soil is perfect. Burying spells at crossroads is also very traditional. Spell remnants can also be buried. Just be mindful to only bury biodegradable items.

Pagan Playlist: Gealdýr – Völuspá (Official Track Premiere)

“Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts.”
— Albert Einstein

Take awareness to new levels. Explore experiencing yourself in the act of being aware. Be aware of awareness itself. To do this, we need to go beyond our old mechanical patterns, compulsions and rejections. We need to uproot the arrogance of ego.

Higher awareness is conscious of spirit and form working together. We must be conscious and present within before we can tune in to the guidance of our soul. Develop awareness to hear the subtlest whispers of intuition through your thoughts, feelings andsensations.

“Most of us are in touch with our intuition whether we know it or not, but we’re usually in the habit of doubting or contradicting it so automatically that we don’t even know it has spoken.”
— Shakti Gawain

A Note from the Universe

Here’s a trick, for dealing with someone who’s disappointed you:

Imagine how they looked as a very young child — timid, a little scared, really cute, and truly not knowing any better — and realize this is who you’re dealing with now.

“To wish to act like angels while we are still in this world is nothing but folly.”

-Saint Teresa of Avila

We put such expectations on ourselves! And look at the expectations we put on our children, our parents, and all the people in our lives. We are human. We are here to learn. We are going to make mistakes, it’s all part of the process. When we relax our expectations and just go with the flow – approach our challenges as lessons rather than failures – then our experiences in life are more meaningful.

Daily Tarot: Wheel of Fortune

You may be in high spirits today and see everything in a fresh light. If this interferes with your mundane duties, take pleasure in the small, lovely, often overlooked aspects of what’s around you. Discoveries can be made in even the most repetitive activity when you look closely enough and appreciate why things are the way they are. This exuberance is short-lived, so enjoy the day and learn something new!

Tetraktys:  Self-Love Ritual for Valentine’s Day: How to Make a Self-Love Witch Bottle

Hey witches! It’s almost Valentine’s Day! At this time of the year, we spend a lot of efforts to show our love to our partner. However, there is always someone we forget: ourselves! After all, how can you expect others to love you if you don’t love yourself?

Spirit Library: Innocence

Blessed Being, as you incarnate into the Earth experience, you are subject to the collective field of creation. It is the nature of this connected physicality to reflect the inner into the outer experience. The reflexive nature of duality is that the mirror offers perspective and ultimately, choice.

Daily Good: Embracing the Great Fullness of Life

“We all have our ideas about how life should go. Ideas painted within us as hopes, longings, opinions. Those painted around us as cultural norms, trajectories, worthwhile goals. We have ideas in mind about most everything how our bodies should work, how love should work, how the world should work. Politics. Sleep. Weather. What we want and do not want. Ideas that make things bad or good, yes or no. And while these concepts can offer us valuable guidance about how we might approach life, they can also obscure and conflict with the vast majority of what is actually unfolding and is bound to unfold in our moment-to-moment, unpredictable lives and world.”

EarthSky News: Shedding light on the moon’s dark side

Tonight – February 12, 2019 – the moon is at or near its first quarter phase, which means the portion of the moon we see from Earth is 50% illuminated by sunshine and 50% engulfed in the moon’s own shadow. What’s more, the lit side of the moon is pointing right at the red planet Mars, and with binoculars, Mars and Uranus can be seen to occupy a single binocular field. See chart below.

Patheos-Pagan: The Pictish Oracle, Symbols from Ancient Scotland

I have a bit of an obsession with history. Things left behind, sometimes easy to find but we can only guess at their meanings or uses. Symbols, pictures, difficult-to-interpret alphabets; I could look at them for hours, full of meaning that we are simply unable to understand.

Inner Journey:

“It’s surprising how many persons go through life without ever recognizing that their feelings toward other people are largely determined by their feelings toward themselves, and if you’re not comfortable within yourself, you can’t be comfortable with others.”
— Sydney J. Harris

“We have the need to be accepted and to be loved by others, but we cannot accept and love ourselves. The more self-love we have, the less we will experience self-abuse. Self-abuse comes from self-rejection, and self-rejection comes from having an image of what it means to be perfect and never measuring up to that ideal. Our image of perfection is the reason we reject ourselves the way we are, and why we don’t accept others the way they are.”
— Don Miguel Ruiz

“There is no freedom like seeing myself as I am and not losing heart.”
— Elizabeth J. Canham

“If we could learn to like ourselves, even a little, maybe our cruelties and angers might melt away.”
— John Steinbeck

A Note from the Universe

It’s kind of strange but first you have to know what you want, defined in terms of the end result.

And then you have to physically move toward it, without defining the hows.

At which point, the thing you want actually starts coming to you, on its own terms, from a direction completely unexpected.

Not unlike a cat,

“Peace is a necessary condition of spirituality, no less than an inevitable result of it.”

-Aldous Huxley (1894-1963)
Peace is reason enough for each of us to pursue our spirituality, and to encourage and support others who wish to do so, also. We experience inner peace through prayer, meditation, and spiritual activity. And that peace radiates outwards to affect our homes and communities. The more of us who live spiritually, the more peace there will be in the world!

There are so many expectations that are packed into a day. From getting the kids to school in the morning to making a decision as to what’s for dinner, each day seems to have an endless list of to-do’s. And the hustle and bustle infiltrates a cloud that engulfs our day-to-day, making it difficult to come up for air and recognize the many blessings that embody our life each day.
